Fitch has been medically cleared. Condit has been promoted to a Title Fight. Koscheck, Hughes, MacDonald all have fights scheduled....

I really don't see why not.
Penn is the only guy not to lose to Fitch in years, and winning puts either one next in line. Or so I think.
Maybe Alves? What's he doing right now?

This fight seems to make the most sense. I personally don't mind seeing this again.

I go out for a walk and come back and the whole MMA world fixes itself, Diaz is out of his undeserving title shot, looks like Fitch will get his deserved rematch and Condit will get an almost deserved title shot.

If I'm the UFC I wait to see if Shields wins and comes out unscathed and if he is willing to fight on about 6 weeks turnaround. Shields v. Penn is a pretty damn good co-main and far more interesting then most any other matchup for BJ.

Dana was live on the press conference immediately after announcing it, and I doubt Condit or GSP's camp leaked it in the few hours before.
And Penn didn't even know he wasn't fighting Condit until the press conference.

Who cares if he is boring, he is still the #2 WW in the world and deserves to fight Penn.
