Frank Edgar, who's next?

Gray Maynard is a tough factor in all this.
Diego Sanchez is a much bigger draw and the winner of him/guida will get a title shot I think
But, beating Guida/Stevenson is not as deserving of a title shot as Maynard being 5-0 against Jim Miller, Clementi, Edgar, siver and veres
Stevenson is so so so over-rated, Edgar is a much better win than him. Guida is a good win if Diego wins, but still, Maynard deserves the shot.
that said......if you do give diego/guida the shot....maynard would be next in line, but he would have to fight
he cant fight edgar, I dont think he should fight Sherk.
Maybe he fights the loser of kenflo/penn.....but still..I think he should get the next title shot but wont happen i dont think

nope, Maynard has that W. I think Maynard is what makes the Edgar question so tough to answer.
IMO it's a real mix up at LW for title contention, especially if Kenny wins at 101.

Edgar will be in lots of trouble when he fights the big stronger fighters such as Sanchez , Maynard , Ken Flo and BJ. With that being said i wont mind seeing Edger or Maynard vs Huerta. Huerta still has a one fight left in his contract.
This lw division is so deep its really cloudy what to do with the next title shot.
I can understand Diego getting the shot if he beats Guida. He wont really have deserved it but I can understand it. He will have beaten Joe Daddy and Guida plus he did a lot at ww so I think it gives him a deserved easier pass, and his marketability is good.
But if Guida wins I dont think he deserves the shot. Beating Danzig,Nate Diaz, and Diego would be nothing to sneeze at, but how does Guida vault over Griffin. I think part of what creates this problem is the ufc's lack of putting on fights against fighters that already fought each other. And frankly I think its stupid. I think if Guida wins, a Guida/Griffin rematch would make all the sense in the world given how close their first match was.
If Diego wins, expect a title shot. So I think Maynard/Griffin should battle it out to be next after that. As for Frankie Edgar I say give him another fight against someone he will be favored against, if he wins that then he gets the Maynard/Griffin winner.
If Guida beats Diego, I say Guida/Edgar for the next title shot.
But really this is bad matchmaking by Joe Silva and that is where the problem is. He should have had Diego matched up against Gray Maynard or Tyson Griffin. When you match him up with Clay Guida your totally f---ing with the chain of ranking and this is what creates this problem.
Tyson Griffin and Gray Maynard train together, they aren't fighting.
Griffin has a recent loss to Sherk, and Guida is a winning streak so he makes sense against Sanchez.
If Florian loses to Penn, which he probably will, then Penn/Sanchez is probably the next LW title fight. Of course Sanchez has to beat Guida.
After that, I think Edgar/Florian would be a great fight. And, have Maynard fight the winner of Diaz/Stevenson. With Griffin fighting Josh Neer.
I also like the idea of Maynard being Huerta's last fight.
I would love to see Roger Huerta beat Gray to piss off Dana. If Roger where to do that, he will regain his marketablity with whoever he chooses to sign with when hes done with acting. And I hate the way the ufc is treating him. The man wants to be an actor its his life, not Dana's. Who is Dana to lowball him like this, remember how Dana lowballed Andrei not even televising his fight. War Roger.
I actually think Roger can beat Gray, I think Roger can beat any ufc lightweight not named Kenny or BJ. Roger is the real deal. And you have to be a fan of the guy after what hes been through.
What mmafanatic said. I really like that idea of Maynard possibly getting a rematch with Diaz since I think he's improved a great deal from their season of TUF. I also really like the idea of Maynard sending Huerta out with a loss.
As for the Diego/Guida fight, I want to see how that fight actually pans out. The way Guida has been laying and praying his way up the ladder probably hurts his chances of a title shot, and Diego hasn't impressed me much since coming down to lightweight. I think his grappling has fallen off pretty hard since he decided to work on his boxing. Diego might still be getting acclimated to the weight, and if he stills needs another tune up fight I think Edgar or Maynard are in the best positions to do it.

Small disagreement with Huerta.
I don't think he can beat most of the LWs. He was getting outclassed by Guida until he landed a big shot and put him out. He also had a very tough fight with Leonard Garcia, who's at 145 in WEC now. I'd have to have of course Penn/Florian, but also Sanchez, Maynard, Edgar, Sherk, Griffin as definite favorites over Huerta and possibly also guys like Diaz, Lauzon, Fisher, Franca. I just think Huerta has more hype than actual skills.
But, just my opinion.
As for lowballing him. It's a business, that's to be expected. But, I'm with you that White should be at least giving him his last fight and letting him move on.

Is Roger is not that great, why did he give Kenny Florian a tough fight. Florian is obviously the best lightweight not named BJ Penn in the ufc, and he has steamrolled everyone pretty easily. And why does Clay get so much credit for doing good the first two rounds, he did not win the fight Roger did.
I think Roger beats most of the guys you mentioned. I think he went from overated to underated. Hes as tough as they come, hes got a first rate chin, he's good anywhere the fight goes. I just think he needs to fight less reckless a la Wanderlei, and more composed a la Machida. Thats my groove.

I agree that he needs to be less reckless.
Yes, he beat Guida. But, Guida was winning the fight in every way, until he got caught. But, yes he won.
He didn't however, give Florian a tough fight. Florian won very easily. Granted he didn't hurt Huerta and did a lot of dancing, but Huerta had absolutly nothing for him and Florian won easily.
I just think based on the Guida fight, if he's fighting another wrestling but with power that guida lacks like Maynard or Edgar or Sherk, he'd lose. He'd lose a rematch to Guida as well, since Guida's been LnPing his way to wins lately. Huerta's definitely tough as nails and has power, but definitely hasn't shown the ability to compete with the elite fighters of the division.
Again, I could be wrong though.
