BJ only defended his three times. I always forget that BJ's lightweight run wasn't as impressive as I remember. It's still hard to say though. Frankie has done literally more at LW, but BJ was way more destructive. A good example of this is to compare their performances against Sherk. On the other hand, I think Maynard and Bendo are better than anybody that Penn fought at LW other than Edgar.
Edgar has never really performed as dominantly as Penn. When he's performing like Penn did against Sanchez, Stevenson etc. then he can claim to be the best ever LW.

If you look at the facts i could easily say Edgar beating Bendo should make him the LW goat
BUT looking at his fights Frankie is never that dominate, and the two Maynard fights he got destroyed early on.
i could be ok with saying he is the GOAT if he beats Bendo

I wouldnt give him goat status till hes defeated a champion by FINISH. If he beats like 3-4 more fighter then ill give him goat. You have to beat different styles to be a GOAT. You also have to finish people and not dance around for 5 rounds. Good thing he finished Maynard last fight.

you know if edgar can beat Bendo I'll be impressed. I don't see him avoiding the engagements cause if he does the condit shuffle I think Bendo would do a bajillion times better than nick at cutting off the ring and forcing the engagement. But Edgar is tough as ish and will step into some combos no prob, he ain't just trying not to lose he is accurate and fast enough to put you down.

I feel becoming is the most important. To say that he is already GOAT would be a bit premature, like say JBJ is. He has been some great fights, comeback wins, title defenses, but a few fights away. Actually if he loses to Bendo and comes back to reclaim his title soon after i will look at it more closely

Frankies Footwork is alot like Cruzs I would say with more boxing. Condit danced in 1 fight compared to Edgars plenty.
