Check it: Saw this on the tv last night. Follow the LINK and watch the Documentary on, "Freeman on the Land". They're said to have 30,000 members. This is definitely a different p.o.v. on personal rights and freedoms.

Important Freeman On The Land Definitions And Information
Being a freeman on the land is something that most of you have probably never heard of, but you should have. A freeman on the land is someone in a common law jurisdiction who lawfully refuses giving consent to be governed, therefore no statutory obligations or restrictions apply to that man or woman. No statute or act of government applies to a freeman on the land. By not consenting to be governed a freeman on the land is no longer eligible for the benefits of being a governed member of society, things like employment insurance, vehicle insurance and registration, welfare, government health insurance, and any other government system do not apply to a freeman on the land, but the benefits are easy to see.
I think most of us agree that there is massive amounts of corruption within governments and within our own government. Becoming aware of just how far the deception goes is an important part of taking back your personal freedoms and claiming your rights as a human being. You will notice that lawyers and judges are all members of what is called the Law Society. The law society is extremely deceptive to the common man because they use words that the common man uses in every day language but they mean something different. They use this tactic to trick the common man into giving his/her consent to be governed.

I'm glad he started this video by sitting on a bucket and firing off 5 rounds. Not only was it symbolically relevant, it let me know he's for serious!
Yeah, don't pay taxes.
Also, don't enjoy health care, don't use the roads my tax dollars paid for, don't you dare try and claim a public education, or use the electrical grid, eat the subsidized food or anything else tax dollars contribute to.
I get the outrage with the complete overreach going on in most modern "democracies" but these guys are a bunch of myopic knackers.

Adherents have “freed” themselves from what they see as an overbearing government that has overstepped its bounds.

Freemen-on-the-Land ‘embassy’ takes over Alberta pensioner’s rental property
SYLVAN LAKE, Alta. — An Alberta pensioner says she feels like a prisoner after her rental property was claimed as an “embassy” by a man she says identified himself as a Freemen-on-the-Land, a growing movement of so-called sovereign citizens that is raising concerns with authorities both north and south of the border.
“I am an army of one,” says Rebekah Caverhill at her home in Sylvan Lake, near Red Deer. Tears stream down her face.
“I’ve been beat up so badly by people that should be helping that I don’t know where to turn.”
Caverhill rented half a duplex she owns in Calgary’s upscale Parkdale neighbourhood to a new tenant in November 2011 on the recommendation of a friend.
The renter, Andreas Pirelli, had recently moved to Calgary from Montreal and was a self-described handyman. She says he agreed to “spruce up” the property in return for three months of free rent.
What she thought was a good deal soon turned into a nightmare.
A few months after Pirelli moved in, Caverhill went to inspect the work and she says she found the entire kitchen and bathroom had been gutted. All the doors inside had been removed and the floor of the master bedroom had been painted black, she says.

‘Freeman-on-the-land’ ordered evicted after taking over senior’s property, declaring sovereign ‘embassy’
CALGARY — The man who an Alberta senior says claimed her rental property as a sovereign “embassy” has been ordered by a Calgary judge to vacate the home by 12:01 a.m. Saturday.
Andreas Pirelli, 48 and Rebekah Caverhill have been locked in a two-year battle; Caverhill says he identified himself as a follower of the Freemen-on-the-Land movement, changed the locks on the house and has refused to leave.
Caverhill says she has been billed for renovations the man did inside the home and that he had a lien placed on the property.
The news came as it was confirmed a warrant was issued for Pirelli’s arrest in Quebec when he stopped showing up in the middle of his assault trial after, it is alleged, a similar battle with a landlady.
Pirelli, who sources have confirmed also goes by Mario Antonacci, was on trial in Montreal in May 2010 when media reports say he failed to show up and a warrant was issued.
The charges stemmed from a Sept. 20, 2007 incident in which a landlady was allegedly thrown down a flight of stairs and broke several bones.

WTF?? Sounds like someone needs to be dragged out back and have their head kicked in. Then taken to the hospital with a sign that says "Don't Help me" I am a free man. f--- this guy.

How is vehicle insurance bundled with other government benefits? Does the Canadian government pay for that out of taxes?

Some provinces have public insurance, others are private only, but I'm sure all provinces force drivers to have insurance. Personally, I don't think people should be forced to buy car insurance.

Counterargument to that is that no one is being forced to drive.
Plenty of people who can't afford insurance just elect not to own a car... it's completely within their rights. Hell, some people don't even bother to get their drivers license.

Uninsured drivers insurance is like 5 bucks more a month.
I personally don't think people should "have" to buy insurance. Owning a brand new car though, you never know and insurance is a good investment.

I'll ask the courts to make him my butler. That's where a light goes on in an entrepreneur's head and he creates pedestrian insurance. Seems there's a market for people afraid of getting struck by a broke uninsured driver.
And it's true that no one forces you to drive, but depending on where you live, job opportunities become extremely limited if you don't have a car.

They still get punished by the laws, despite their claims. Many of them have received jail over not paying income taxes.
