Wow. That is absolutely insane. Very very fortunate that it didnt end up worse than it did. Thankfully this is a very rare occurrence in MMA

Bellator will be paying for the surgery, but he's going to be on the shelf for a long time. The go fund me is to help subsidize his loss of future income.

Look at fighters like Jessica Penne who had to have her nose fixed and has been out of competition for a year letting her nose fully heal.
Similar with Anderson Silvas gruesome injury. I'm assuming Tate's nose will put her away for 6-9 mo's, which means her next fight will be about a year away.
It's really pretty amazing when you see guys like Cowboy Cerrone who are able to fight 4x per year with very little damage.
I'm assuming the doctors are going to tell Cyborg he can never fight again, but the sad truth is that he probably will.

She should grow her hair out again, I don't think the bald look suits her.

There's a reason why every adult is supposed to save money.
There's a reason why self-directed 401K's, Roth IRA Accounts, CDs, and Mutual Funds exist.
There's a reason why you pay your manager a cut of everything you make.
There's a reason why Viacom bought Bellator.
There's a reason why Bellator has liability insurance.
There's a reason why I can't call Cyborg up and ask him for money when I get hurt on my job.
There's a reason why people depend on family.
There's a reason why I'm not giving s---.

Bet that UFC fighter insurance is looking mighty good, right about now.
Oh well, I'm sure he's raking in the dukkets at bellator.

What do you think that fighter's insurance would get him that he's not getting now?

Absolutely. Any injury that occurs during a fight is covered by the promotion. .

Unless regs are different in U.K., Bellator is required to cover in cage injuries. If not, then being in the UFC would absolutely help as they cover ALL injuries from bouts. If Bellator does not cover this, the MMA media should tear them apart.

He didn't set up the fund. He said he's feeling fine and will be treated in Texas. Bellator is covering the medical costs.

"I'm under observation now, and will have surgery in the United States. I had a serious injury, but Bellator is giving me all the support I need. I'll be back soon," he said, which no has timetable as he isn't clear to fly yet."
Cyborg...

It's raised over $6,000 last time I checked. If you're saying he is going to give it to charity, kudos. If he's keeping it, he's a piece of s---.
There are people who are homeless, people who are hungry, broke students down to their last pack of ramen noodles in dorm rooms 1,000 miles away from home, dads trying to kick drugs, moms hiding in hotels with their kids from a domestic abuser, etc.
He, on the other hand, can use his name and likeness to monetize a Youtube channel, secure a sponsor, or call a press conference to compel Bellator to help him. He has way more tools at his disposal to raise money and earn a living than most people. If he doesn't know how to use them, he should sue his manager for every penny ever earned. If he videotaped every day in the hospital and posted it on YouTube and monetized it, he could generate ad revenue into perpetuity. He doesn't need a penny from any of us.
If this is all some kind of misunderstanding, I'll be waiting to hear how he gave all the money back.
