Bah! I already made a thread about how Lou Thesz invented that move and called it the "Cobra Twist."

And that has what to do with this thread??

Just saying that the move nor the gracie breakdown isn't the epic wonder move that everyone is making it out to be. BJJ is for guys who want to think their tough and fighters but are too much of a p**** to get hit.

Oh yea.... youre on of those fellas who trains "UFC"
You probably keep a pair of UFC branded gloves in your pick up truck

You all misinterpreted what I said. PURE BJJ (as in no MMA/no strikes) is for people who want to brag about how tough they are and s--- but are afraid to get hit.
And Anderson subbing Chael? I have no problem with that since Anderson is an MMA fighter not a pure BJJ guy. MMA > Pure BJJ or any pure sport.

Sounds like you know one guy who trains BJJ and you don't like him so you jump to the conclusion that everybody is like him. I know nobody who trains BJJ who "brags about how tough they are." To the contrary, they are all amazingly respectful and go out of their way to avoid conflict.
But hey, go ahead and judge everybody it's your right.

Leonard Garcia doesn't appear to be afraid to get punched in the face. But in all honesty, lots of people aren't afraid to be punched in the face. i actually enjoy finding my threshold.

Are you referring to specific people, or BJJ practitioners in general. Because i have met tons of douche bags that use their training outside their schools.
i've met more that are respectful
but certainly i know many that aren't. not usually the coaches or the new people, a lot of times it's the people who have just started competing.

Actually I like the feeling of a good jaw jacking as well.
But after getting hit and before getting hit is two different feelings for me.
I dunno I just think its dumb to say JJ is for people who don't want to get hit? Ok So they don't want to get hit, whats your point?
And here I am with a sustaining knee injury because of JJ where a punch in the face would have healed in a day or two.

Referring to the people I train with in addition to almost all of those I've met along the way. In any group of people you're going to have some douche bags, there's no avoiding it but it's a small minority - at least in my experiences. Perhaps it's the places they train at because any of them that brought that macho attitude inside my academy got booted pretty quickly. It's simply not tolerated.

Funny. The Gracies give props to both Eddie Bravo and the fact this move came from wrestling and yet there are still crybabies who can't wait to tell you The Gracies are overrated.

Exactly, and yet it seems like there are still childish imbeciless around every corner who can't wait to act like they're all rivals and you have to pick a side from Team Eddie or Team Gracie.

very true.... The smart ones sit back and take the knowledge from every source...
Im train under the Serra Bros. (which is obviously traditional Gracie JJ) but im smart enough to see that Eddie Bravo and his 10th planet system is amazing too.... Gotta open up your minds... People think Wrestling too isnt a complicated system and its all about explosiveness and power and being a meathead... Not true at all... The Gracie syst and 10th planet syst will always give credit to Wrestling when needed.

On a side note, I called a friend Matt Serra the other day after seeing Stephan Bonnar make fun of Matt for his weight. My friend got a horrible spider bite on his face and it put him out for a while, during which time he gained like 25-30 lbs.
On to other things, you'll notice that they all have similar techniques and applications, just due to the fact that they *work*. Sometimes it's a similar technique, others it was adapted from one into the other.
