Ok film buffs, cine-philes, and movie nerds....
Greatest Oscar Winners last 25 years. Had it at 50 years, way too difficult. Only 5 choices per category. 1 Vote per category. There will be no write in. I'm the Academy, I do the nominating! And the hosting!
Also, unlike this year's Oscars....race plays no part here. So f--- you Will and Jada!

On that list I went with Theron in Monster. It comes down to basically I never once saw her as Charlize Theron while watching that movie. I saw Aileen Wuornos. Total transformation.

Theron. Like Denzel, you've never seen her play that type of character and her transformation was unreal.

No to deny her acting in the film, but nothing of what you see in that picture has anything to do with acting.
That's just sort of an inside baseball, acting b----. Sometimes beautiful leads, or historic good guys, get rewarded or extra praise for going "ugly" or "bad." But if you're an actor, that shouldn't be any harder than any other role. And sitting in a make up chair for 2 hours to look ugly is no harder than sitting in a chair for 2 hours to look pretty.

It kinda does. To make us, the viewers believe that we are seeing a completely different person on screen. Her beauty would not have made that role as believable as "going ugly" did.
Just being good sometimes isn't good enough. Being exceptional is.

At the end of the day it's Meryl Streep and then everybody else.

Yeah, almost like the LHW division. It's Jon Jones, then everyone else.

Lol yep. Her range is remarkable. She makes Devil Wears Prada worth watching...then she turns around and does Mamma Mia and voices some cartoons.

GOAT definitely in terms of nominations but man I thought she had more wins...Only 3 ever. And her last win was for Iron Lady which I have no interest in seeing.

Right, but that is an award for the make up people. Hey, I saw Monster. I have no problem with her winning because of her performance. I'm just pointing out that sometimes actors get credit for things that are just part of the job or are really creations of other artists.
BTW - saw her in real life one time. Beautiful face and definitely a ten, but surprisingly gangly.

See. The make up artist picked Theron!!!

Haha! Theron's physical transformation was perfect, there's no denying that
On a whole, Charlize Theron as an actress I can give or take; with that said, Theron receives my vote here because I thought her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos was nothing less than flawless. Her looks, her mannerisms, her posture, her walk, the way she spoke, the way she carried herself, etc. she nailed it.
If you have time, watch a documentary or two on Aileen Wuornos and then watch Monster. You'll see what I'm talking about.
