Well, the 98th Grey Cup is in the books and the Monreal Allouettes have clinched back-to-back titles, ironically against the same opposition. The Saskatchewan Roughriders fell short in their bid at redemption after last year's debacle. Yet despite being at least 3-1 underdogs, the Riders managed to keep the game within reach with a tie going into the fourth quarter and the overall score within 3 points with a final tally of 21-18.
What are your thoughts on the game, the teams or the CFL in general?

Seriuosly?
The CFL. The Canadian Football League. The counterpart to the NFL (at least in North America).
The Grey Cup is the Championship - like the Superbowl.
I understand if my oversees freinds aren't familiar with this, but are the Americans on this forum oblivious to the Canadian League?
Are there no Canadians who wish to comment :?:

as soon as the NFL & CFL change the name of their sport, I might consider paying attention.
to the rest of the world, football means soccer.
it's about as moronic as not using the metric system.
I haven't watched the CFL in years - since the Alouettes v1.0 flew away.

Granted it's not nearly as large, but it is a nation wide league of football. and in that respect, it is to Canada what the NFL is to the USA. So yes, it is the NFL's counterpart.
And I take your comment to mean you couldn't probably care less about the CFL or the recent championship game. Thanks for the informative addition to this thread.

I don't watch the CFL at all. Not a whole lot of access to it in South Texas.
It may be a football league for an entire nation but it is not, in anyway, a counterpart of the NFL. It isn't even the NFLs red headed (sorry Castella) step child.

ESPN 3 shows at least one game a week and I am quite sure they showed the championship game. I also saw one on TV the other day,(could have been yesterday) maybe that was the championship? Not sure which channel though, Versus maybe? I know Versus shows that other football league, but I am pretty sure this was a CFL game on my TV.

Unless someone is from Saskatchewan they are rarely a die hard CFL fan.

I've seen it this year on Comcast Sports Net and NFL network. The games are a little odd with the longer and wider field, goalposts in the end zone, and forward motion. Some decent college players go there.

A lot of guys who don't make the NFL on their first go around find work there, hone their skills and head back.

That place north of you with currently a better economy, less crime, cleaner air and water where people haven't been losing their houses to the bank left and right and screaming 'They took our jobs! derp dee durr!' about illegal immigrants.

Warren Moon started in the CFL before he broke Dan Marino's single-season passing record (although the record breaking reception was incorrectly ruled out of bounds).
Doug Flutie ended up in the CFL - always a home for minuscule quarterbacks.
