Essentially, he is distilling chunks of plastic. It is interesting the technology that we've had for more than a thousand years may save us when taken from the distillation of spirits and applied to plastics.

This sounds fishy to me. By definition, you can't melt down Thermosets; only Thermoplast. For a guy to drop in molded containers & styrofoam & empty bags of chips and what not into a machine and have oil come out the other end sounds too good to be true.

This is funny because I was just talking to friend of mine who is going for her doctorate and she was complaining that it seems like there are so many claims coming out of Asia where nobody checks or double checks the data. Remember the whole cloning fiasco? Didn't the lead scientist end up killing himself or something?? I mean it would be NICE if this was true...it would revolutionize everything. Besides, it would be shame for this lead scientist to end up doing himself in as well. I figure if this were true, some large oil corporation would have tracked him down & either slapped a gag-order on him and/or would have bought him out and developed the technology for themselves, and all the while selling the oil back to the world without telling the rest of us where or how it came to be.

Does sound too good to be true. Too simple. Why hasn't it been done before? Boil plastic, send gas into water, boom! oil.
Something seems fishy.
