Hey guys
I thought I'd make this post to dicuss the possible hall of fame inductees that will be occuring at UFC 100. I should note, just while looking over the UFC website, I noticed a couple entries I hadn't noticed there before, which might give us some hints.
Evan Tanner - I don't remember Evan having a page this good
http://www.ufc.com/EvanTanner
Guy Mezger - Light Heavyweight now listed Guy Mezger although it leads to a dead link.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.AllFighters&did=2&LName=
Art Jimmerson - Maybe the UFC is just trying to add all of their ex-fighters to the website. I wouldn't call this link impressive.
http://www.ufc.com/ArtJimmerson
Jason DeLucia - Another really old school UFC fighter
http://www.ufc.com/JasonDeLucia
Pat Miletich - This is certainly a good sign, and certainly deserving
http://www.ufc.com/PatMiletich
Anyways, your thoughts are always welcome. I think Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell are both excellent candidates as well as Don Frye.

Honestly I dont think that any of the guys you mention will get in the HOF
Chuck and Hughes will most likley get in. I dont think Mask is even a candidate to get in or should be. The HOF should be fighters only and Mask was not a fighter nor was in UFC really.

Umm yea except UFC is a minority owner of Tapout, and Tapout sponsers the TUF series. They are in UFC enough that they are characters in a Video game as well.

Still dont see enough reason to induct him into the UFC HOF. Its the UFC not Tapout in the end. Hes not a fighter. Also Im sure if he was alive he wouldnt even be mentioned for the UFC HOF.

I think you can make honest cases for Evan Tanner, Guy Mezger and Pat Miletich.
Evan Tanner was the third UFC MW champion, and was a contender for the LHW title apart from his tragic death and the fact he practically self trained himself in the sport.
Guy Mezger won the UFC Lightweight tournament at UFC 13 and put on classic matches against Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva in both the UFC and Pride as well as helping train many of the Lion's Den fighters.
Pat Miletich needs no introduction, he won the UFC Lightweight tournament at UFC 16 and was the first UFC welterweight champion, and defended his belt four times. He also was instrumental in the training many UFC fighters and champions the like of Tim Sylvia and Matt Hughes. The only reason why this might not happen his that he still apparently has a rancor for Dana White.
Now as far as Mask from Tapout is concerned, him being inducted would not sit right with me. Yes, Mask did a lot for up and comming fighters and sponsored many well know fighters, but fundamentally he was not a fighter for the UFC or Pride, he was never a commentator or major influence on either organization as a whole. Him getting inducted into the hall of fame would come off to me as a publicity stunt for TapouT (of which the UFC is a part owner from my understanding) which is the last thing his death should be used as.

Did you seriously try to make a case for Mask getting into the HoF, because they are in a video game???? Does that mean Brock Lesnar should be in the NFL HoF, because he was in Madden once? I have a TON of respect for the Tapout guys, and what they have done for the sport, the fighters, and the fans, but Mask shouldn't be inducted into the HoF. He did not train, coach, or compete in ANY fight during his lifetime. What he did was reconize talent, and get them into the proper places.
Aside from that, Tapout also sponsers fighters from ALL over, into many different MMA organizations, such as UFC, Strikeforce, EliteXC (when they were around), and I am sure others. He was not soley involved with the UFC,
As for Evan Tanner, he deserves it, hands down. I also think that in due time, Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture will be amongst them (but, it appears that both might be active fighters), as well as Anderson Silva.

Randy's already in.
I don't think Evan deserves the HOF but I didn't think Coleman did either and he's in so.............
I think Militech has a good shot now that he left WAMMA. He may still not like Dana but I don't think they are in a direct competition anymore and the guy did great things not just for the sport of MMA but also for the UFC. Hughes and Sylvia were mentioned but don't forget Pulver for the first LW title. All came out of Pat's camp.

Did someone say that Chuck and Hughes will "most likely" get in?

re: mask
i don't think it's out of the question that there would be a "builders" or "pioneers" type wing of the HOF, like there is with most sports. that would include great trainers (greg jackson would deserve a spot eventually if he keeps putting guys into title position), and just the helpers of the sport, like mask and others, some journalists maybe.
obviously there is no such wing, so for now, i doubt mask will get in. but eventually i wouldn't be surprised.

cant think of anyone else that might both have 20+ fights each in the octogon. Were dominating champs for a while. Good with Dana.
Pat wont get in he had very few UFC"s and plus hes not on good terms with Dana.

Who knows with that, but my biggest thing was that he mentioned that they were playable characters in the UFC video game... thats what really got me. Believe me, I have nothing but the UTMOST respect for Mask, and the rest of the Tapout crew, for what they have done for UFC, and MMA in general. Its just a matter of would they get that kind of award from a HoF point of view.

yeah if being in the game is important, i guess we should induct justin mccully right now, right?
i hope they do create a "pioneers" section, becaue helio gracie and Marco Ruas need recognition in terms of what they did for MMA, and so do the TapouT crew and others that i don't feel like naming. a trainers wing would be cool too. jackson and john hackleman deserve HOF spots (if they keep producing good fighters), same with miletich and cesar gracie.

And i dont undertsnad why people are so against Mask being inducted. You dont need to be a fighter to do great things for UFC and MMA overall. I bet if they announced Big John was being inducted no one would have a problem with it.

not at all. but like i've said, there needs to be a fighters wing and a pioneers/builders wing, maybe even a journalists/broadcasters wing with time. the baseball HOF is the perfect model, IMO.
i'd also like an MMA HOF, not a UFC HOF

Im with you on the MMA HOF. Or atleast combine UFC and Pride for right now. Mark Kerr, Igor Volvchanchyn, Sakuraba, Wandy, all very deserving of HOF status based on what they did in Pride.
