A punch from the devistating striker Chael Sonnen almost put him out.
Weidman, new to the striking game, knocked him out.
He doesnt seem to be able to take a shot anymore.
What do you think? (I think too much heavy sparring at shoot box and with pro boxers has damaged his once good chin, because he hasnt taken much damage in the octagon)
Also will his leg be stronger than it was before or weaker? (I hear sometimes after damage bones actually fuse stronger than they were before)
Also do you think he will still go for the powerful low kicks or will he be alot more careful about using them?

Hmmm id say no, he got ko'd because he was being an idiot. Chael got lucky, if silvas chin was really weak, he would have got tko'd by chael.

These are the only examples we have? I'd say no then.

Hard to tell. I've only ever seen him get punched in the face about 3 times in his whole career.

No way him acting the fool against Weidman is the reason he got KO'ed
Bone breaks actually make the bones stronger when they are healed again
And chaels a juice head

Chimny? Doubtful. His incredible reflexes ala RJ jr may have started to diminish a bit which plays a much bigger part in older fighters getting tagged more often. Especially when their game revolves around the ability to see and slip punches with ease as the Spider was apt to do. Straight out the Matrix. Just because you get caught, doesn't make you "chinny". Happens to the best of em.

Chael knocked him off balance, he didn't "almost put him out". That's laughable hyperbole.

Did you mean shinny? If so, probably.

Chinny seems to be a combination of slowdown reflexes and deteriorating vision on top of the brain being less able to recover because it has already been damaged by a knock out.
Unless they have ridiculously strong necks and perfectly designed jaws, all fighters become more "chinny" as they near 40. They're getting older and slower.
I worry that like Chuck, Anderson's fighting style isn't great for getting older. There is too much counter punching built into it. He's going to get caught more and more.

WTF is this all about?
The guy allows himself to be punched some times so he can counter.
And we have only seen him put down for it really just once his entire career.

I think Weidman hits harder than it looks like he does, he's not flashy but when he connects it does damage. Silva getting older his reflexes slow and he might not get out of the way or roll with the a punch the same as he use to. The guy fought the best the UFC could offer him for years, and did it with his hands down and wasn't even hurt until recently. I think Silva has to have a good chin to fight and train the way he did, there are bad stylistic match ups for everyone and Weidman seems to have Silva's number. Maybe its a combination or both age and style the loses to Weidman

While I'm not doubting Weidmans power, the KO wasn't exactly helped by Silvas feet being in an awful position & he was moving into the punch, increasing the impact.
People get KO'd, it's what happens in this sport. It doesn't mean they can't take a punch.

The problem is that one of the things that makes you more susceptible to getting KOed is having being KOed before. Your brain doesn't reset to 100%. The older you are, the worse it is.
That said, Anderson showed many signs of improvement in the second fight. He was covering up and striking with more respect. He messed up when he tried to clinch with Weidman and hopefully he learned a lesson there too.
My own limited arm chair quarterbacking believes that if Silva were willing to fight carefully and not go for a quick knock out he could do very well against Weidman. I can see him picking Chris apart in the later round and getting a late stoppage or narrow decision. I'd still favor Weidman, but I think Silva still has the skills to win. He just has to accept that it won't be early and it won't be easy.

Nothing but age. Same thing happened to Liddell, Couture, Mir, and even the great Fedor. These guys could take a punch when they were young and springy, now they're just old and chinny (as the thread title says). When is the last time you saw Big Nog not be able to take a punch? Now he has 3 KO losses in the past 8 fights and almost got KO'd by Brendan Schaub during that time. Even Hendo has a KO loss now. Age is one of those things you can't hide from and the longer you fight, the more you lose your speed, reflexes and ability to take a punch.

Are you really putting Fedor in that bracket of having weak chins?
. He got knocked out once in his whole career off a heavy handed dangerous old guy and he wasn't even knocked out really
Don't put bigfoots beatdown in either cuz he took it and was still standing
