What do you guys think about this? On the article comments it seems to be pretty mixed, but as was pointed out in a thread last night, the forums are usually more conducive to good conversation. IMO its pretty harmless and shows the fans adoration for the fighters and causes them no immediate problems other than maybe irritating their sponsors who pay them for wearing the hats.
I think it's funny when I see it happen during a broadcast. Cause it's pretty hilarious to see a random arm come out from nowhere and take a hat. But, I bet it does kind of suck for the sponsers, since they are basically giving away hats for free. It would be different if the fighter threw the hat into the crowd. I'm not really sure how I feel about it though.
I wonder why they are just now talking about this though, I've seen it happen tons of times before this past Saturday.
I remember reading that the hat thieves at UFC 105 both got ejected from the arena for their actions. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal but what happens if the thief miss times his reach and pokes the fighter in the face or eye then this could cause a big problems.
I think the hat stealing kinda evens out the guys who get their sponsors shirts thrown on him while the ref tries to raise their hands. I think that looks pretty disrespectful when a fighter cant even get announced the winner without someone in their corner trying to jam a shirt over their gloves.

Hat stealing is, well, stealing.
As for the Tshirts... the fighters get paid to display those shirts in the cage, which is why their corner is trying to get the shirts on.
First I thought it was a little bit funny. After I realized the same guy was able to steal two hats at the same event now that's pretty unorganized security. Makes me wonder what else could happen.
Fans shouldn't be doing that at all. It's amazing that we have to even debate whether it's okay to steal stuff off of them.
That being said, it did get play time on ESPN's Not Top Ten for the week, so that's some free advertising.
i just don't understand how the fighters seem to not even notice anything happened. I know they are trying to be as focused as possible but you think they'd at least glance over at the guy or yell something at him.

I think the funniest thing about it is that some of the fighters dont even flinch, Paulo seems like he doesnt even know his hat is gone :lol: I have to agree though I think its wrong not really because there stealing it just because the act itself seems desperate and pathetic but definitely funny
