Before the Roop fight, and after the UFC signed him, I recall some posters saying how Aldo better cherish the belt while he still has it, because Hioki is the 2nd best featherweight in the world and he was going to take it from him.
After squeaking by a very average UFC fighter in George Roop are people ready to call Hioki overrated? Or at least drop him from the number 2 ranking?

I think this was a test to see whether he was ready for a instant shot at Aldo or more time to establish himself as a UFC fighter. His skills are not overrated at all though IMO.
I said a matchup with Mike Brown or Poirier/Garza would be good, but I like the idea of him fighting Erik Koch also since they are both near the top

Of course he is over rated. He comes primarily from the Japanese MMA scene.

I'm reserving judgement as I don't know how so many can rank this guy so high and him perform that way last night. Octagon jitters maybe...

^^anderson silva, but is mute to the point. Roop was a tough style matchup for him being so tall, like i myself knew. the same reason i bet a few dollars on roop by decision. it was hiokis first fight in the ufc against a game george roop, now he will have a little less pressure, and will have gotten the octagon jiters out of the way.

I think Mendes gets the 2# ranking now but i don't think he is overrated at all.

No way Hioki is overrated, he's an awesome fighter and I love watching his fights. Got to give the guy a break once Hatsu has a few more wins under his belt everyone will jump on the bandwagon, this is his debut in the U.S & UFC so IMO he had a good outing you have to also remember he isn't used to the whole fighting in a cage.

All Asian fighters are overated. This is a known fact.

Hioki's standup was bad, and on the ground he did no damage and never seriously threatened a submission. The decision could have easily gone the other way, and then everyone would agree he is overrated.

No,
Anti-ufc guys would never over-rate fighters to validate their opinions that other organizations have just as good of fighters as the UFC.
That would never happen.

Points can be moot. As an "it's a moot point."
Anyway, GNI, still think Hioki is #2?
