A matchup of top 15 women's bantamweights has been added to UFC Fight Night in San Diego as Holly Holm meets Marion Reneau on July 15.
UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani reported the new matchup on Wednesday night per sources close to the bout.
Holm has been one of the most highly prized additions to the women's bantamweight division since signing with the promotion in 2014.
A former multi-division boxing champion, Holm is undefeated in her MMA career and picked up her first UFC win in February when she defeated "Ultimate Fighter" veteran Raquel Pennington in a three round war.
She will have a tough test ahead of her in July as Reneau looks to build on her 2-0 record thus far in the Octagon.
Reneau will try to keep her winning streak alive when she faces Holm in a marquee matchup added to the upcoming UFC card in San Diego.Reneau defeated Alexis Dufresne in her debut before taking out Brazilian striker Jessica Andrade in under two minutes in her last fight.
The special Wednesday night show will feature a heavyweight main event pitting former champion Frank Mir against Todd Duffee in the headline bout.

I wouldn't sleep on Reneau, as I think she could definitely upset Holm here.
Awesome matchup.
That being said, I'd love to see Holm kick her head into the third row.

I think Holm pulls out of this match up. Holm is gonna look like a mayweather in there doing her best to avoid a confrontation or takedown.

We're going to see if it was Octagon jitters or not. If it was, I think Holly is going to be a real pain in the *** for anyone. But if it wasn't jitters, then anyone with takedowns is going to have plenty of opportunities to shoot on her.
I wouldn't mind seeing Holly develop her leg kicks. Her leg power is much better than her punching power.

Considering she's been at Jackson's for awhile, I wouldn't be surprised if Holm's uses some TD's. But I think this is a match up she can better showcase her MMA striking skills

Or she could just use TDs to score points and just stand up once she feels uncomfortable. Her ground games an unknown factor but she's trained long enough that she might actually surprise some of her opponents

This fight should be headlining the UFC 189 prelims. Totally unnecessary for this fight to be on this Fight Night card.
