An average of over 5 Million people were just Force Fed Brock Lesnar vs Overeem for about 58 minutes and 56 seconds. With that amount of exposure, add in the massive amount of marketing that's already been done, and the fact that it's on a Friday night...what kind of number can we expect this PPV to pull in. Obviously a million is a given. But how much over that? :?

I find it to be an interesting topic for discussion, but that's me.

The more PPV numbers, the more the sport is growing. The more the sport is growing = the bigger it gets. The bigger it gets = higher likelihood of more fights in total, more free fights (slightly ironic), greater coverage of the sport, more people to talk about it with, and most importantly - the less I have to explain what MMA is. That's the reason I care anyway. It's also nice to use if you are in conversation with a boxing elitist.
I chose only 1 million. Call me crazy, but I think people are overrating Overeem's notoriety here. He's not Randy Couture. Even Frank Mir (second fight) might be a bigger draw than Overeem because his fame got boosted by his first fight with Brock. Add to the fact that GSP isn't fighting on this card and it doesn't have a special number like '100' and I don't see how you could think it would do as much as UFC 100 let alone more than it. I hope I'm wrong and it sets a PPV record, though.

Hopefully, the numbers will go up next year. 2011 was not a good year for the UFC in terms of the PPV numbers. It was the first year that they didn't show a steady increase but instead decreased.

I'm going with the safe bet and saying a million. Buys have been surprisingly low lately and the last time anyone saw Brock he got beat like a mule, so some interest may have waned in him. Hope it gets huge buys though, Reem, Nate And Cerrone deserve the views.

Under 1 million
Brock lost some of his hype with the loss of the title, and overeem is unknown by most people that buy PPVs. Those who are knoweledble enough mma to know Overeem at this moment are probably also enough to know how to watch PPVs for free. knoweledble

I want Brock to Smother f--- Overeem and Beat the s--- out of Him.
What will proabably happen is Overeem will Ko Brock because he hates getting punched
(Unless training has taught him how to take a punch properly)
Next:
Jds will Brutally KO Overeem because Overeem has showed time and time again he is the Strikers Version of Brocks Turtle, he turns and Curls up when he gets hit to hard and gives as well.....
People give Brock s--- for having 0 mma experience and covering up like a little w----, but nobody jumps on Overeem for Turning and running, or Covering up and getting knocked completely out.
Dont care much for either fighter, but I hope Brock Punishes him.

If 2011 UFC PPV numbers were following along in 2011 like they were in the last year or two, I'd say 1.5 million. However this year they have been just terrible with, IIRC, the best being UFC 129 @ ~700k, UFC 126 @ ~650k, and UFC 135 @ ~500k. The rest were not good to terrible, especially a card like UFC 136 which should have easily done 500k.
I think people are greatly overestimating how much Overeem will affect the buyrates (2 million? LOL) when even decent known UFC fighters are not drawing much. I don't think Overeem changes things much at all. Likewise I think the voting options have the high end too high. In 2010, Brock was easily doing 1 million, but given the weaker buyrates in 2011, I voted 750k.

I voted 1.5 but this could easily go much higher. They will be pushing this s--- on network TV in prime time like no other PPVs have ever been pushed. The exposure could bring the buys to a ridiculous new level.
It'll be interesting to see how the FOX deal supplements PPV interest.

I picked 750,000, but honestly I would have preferred about 850-900K.
Lesnar, while his last 4 (I think it's 4) cards have topped 1 million in buys, they've all involved a championship tilt. His non-headlining or non-title fight cards were in the 600-650K range. But those were also his first fights in MMA, really. With his layoff of a year or so, the economic climate and the lack of a title bout, even with the Reem coming over, I think they'll struggle to hit a million.
Add in that his last two perfromances (win over Carwin and loss to Cain) has removed a lot of the invincible lustre from Lesnar's crown. That's why I think 850-900K is more likely.

5 people picked over 2 million buys for an event that will be on a Friday night? I get that it's Lesnar v Reem, but 2mil plus is just unrealistic. I'd say it tops out about 900k. If it was a Sat, I'd say it could boost up to 1.25.
