My parents are in Nova Scotia. Earl is predicted to be a Tropical Storm by the time he gets there, so it shouldn't be too bad, but it's enough to make me worry a bit...

Nope not close, but it is bringing much cooler temps to my state which is needed. It has been humid and nasty here lately

That's the worst hurricane story I've ever heard.

It's been insanely hot here for this time of year, so I guess, as BUD said, at least it'll cool things off a bit. Earl has me genuinely worried - having lived through Juan - because I'm pretty well set up to deal with this sort of thing under normal circumstances, but I haven't had normal circumstances in a while. Wish me luck!

The Carolinas and Baltimore could be a problem, grap. I'd check in with them when you get the chance.
The course has changed a bit, and it might not hit here
quite
as hard now. It's still a long way away, but they're saying 60-100mm of rain and 100-120k winds. Maybe not so bad, but we'll see...
Looks like you'll have to wait till April for your syrup, Scotty.
Everything I am hearing is saying only Tropical Storm level winds hitting anywhere in the U.S. It is supposed to just head north and just sort of graze the coast. The media loves to report "OMG 145 mph winds" but those level of winds should be nowhere near anyone. This one looked potentially nasty but it looks like we dodged it.
My girlfriend's aunt & cousins live in NC. They're money-stealing, woman-beating trailer trash so I was hoping for a clean sweep...of just their trailer, of course. Haven't seen any updated news yet though.

What do you mean, "we?"

"we" as in "the midwest".
Maybe our temperature won't drop as much as anticipated.
"you" are still screwed. Sorry 'bout that.

Mrs. Brick and I both work for an insurance company, got $30K or so in bonuses tied to annual profitability, lol. Hurricanes suck.
Thanks for creating this thread. The first time I saw that fil was mad at Earl, I wasn't sure who(or in this case, what) he was talking about. I gotta keep up with the news.
