with a possible mir vs jds in the works i think this is a winnable fight for mir. he will come in heavy and looking to take the fight to the ground.i can see Mir pinning the smaller JDS against the cage, judo trip and finish with a brutal sub. lets face it jds ground game is suspect and mir will exploit that and take a limb home with him and the also the strap.
Or JDS will tag and drop Mir, entacing jds to apply so gnp, zombie Mir activates and grabs on to a limb and subs jds via crushing sub.

perhaps, but we've seen Mir pull out some crazy subs when hes hurt. he did it to sylvia, lesnar, and most recently to big nog. so if he gets dropped it will invite jds to some gnp and then boom mir grabs a hold of a limb and hes taking it home.

no he wont go for a sub, but he will go for some sloppy gnp get his arm or leg locked and snapped. Mir will then take limb home an mount it on his wall.

Mir doesn't have the take downs to get JDS down and JDS won't be following him to the ground unless he is pretty much out.

i like Mir, big fan of his but if that flat foot guy that fought big nog shows up he is going to sleep. if JDS hits Mir with the shot nog did it is over no GNP needed.

JDS was in a little trouble on the ground with carwin, although its hard to say if he was really stuck in that guillotine or if he was just waiting out the last few seconds of the round.

Jak is a Mir hater if i've ever seen one. Every post regarding Mir in the past few days is nothing but seething hate and disrespect. For a mod, you'd think he would be a little more subtle with his blatant hate of a fighter.
Regardless though, I think 1 of 2 things will happen.. Either:
1) Mir comes in without an ego, takes JDS down and subs him in the first round in a relatively easy win showing his BJJ dominance over the seemingly one dimensional boxer.
2) Comes in with his typical ego and tries to strike with JDS and shows his usual disregard for defense and takes a few uppercuts to the chin, eventually wilting and laying on the ground looking like a murder victim.
Mir has all the tools to be the champ, and i'd say is one of (if not THE) most well rounded fighters at HW right now.

hahah while i enjoyed this post, i think both scenarios you layed out are a bit exaggerated...
1) mir's takedowns are meh. cain tried and failed to take down jds, although he only had that one shot before getting ko'd. i dont have other examples of jds' tdd, but people always say it's good.
2) at range, frank has decent boxing defense. it seems to be when he's in the clinch or on the ground he starts grappling and stops protecting his head...
i'd like to see this fight either way.

Mir's takedowns are trash, if Cain couldn't take him down when he snatched that single leg it is very unlikely Mir will. Mir is going to get punched out faster than you can say soup can. His wrestling is not very good at all.

jds KO power is overrated. Mir arguably hits harder than JDS i can also see Mir tagging jds and finish him witha brutal choke Kongo style.

If he is the strong man in the clinch, he can get JDS on the ground. If he is the weak man in the clinch however, we could see JDS do to Mir what Carwin did.

I just don't see it, JDS is much younger, and way more explosive, his hips are unreal. He certainly won't be able to strike with him if he ends up not being able to take him down, I don't think he will even get a hold of him, call me crazy..
