I Won a Holiday to Miami

congrats! i have no recommendations for you since i haven't been to florida since 99 and it was for Disney. however, if you see a Charley's restaurant, i recommend it....still remember that place now. they cook everything on an open wood fire grill in the middle of the restaurant and they serve gator....its delicious.

Actually I'll be in Miami for one day in August, so I could use some suggestions too.
I was in Miami last Saturday. We spent a day in South Beach. It was awesome. We saw where some scenes of scar face was shot. We ate at the historic News Cafe. We saw Versace's place where he was shot on the steps. We also drove the same highway where Dante Stallworth killed that guy. You definitely want to spend a night in South Beach. I believe the street with the clubs was called Washington. There is also Ocean drive. Very cool place and not nearly as Jersey Shore as one might expect
Well I am here now & I have to say it is a dissapointment
I think I have won a holiday to Compton with the amount of gang bangers that are walking around. Guess Memorial Weekend is a bad time to come here because this is not what I expected
And talk about a rip off. My hotel charged me $45 for 2 DRINKS!! & flashed my card for $750 just in case I broke something
I did get to see the UFC in an Irish Bar though which was a treat as it's normally on at 2am in the UK so have to watch it at home
Also the room next to mine seems to be an open nightclub which wakes me virtually every hour
On the whole I don't think I will be coming again

That sucks. Try and make the best of it though. You will probably only be there once.

I was born & raised about 130 miles n. of Miami. Been there a handfull of times & never fealt safe. In the military I've been to several third world countries but, Miami is the only city where I've seen a dead body on the side of the road. There are supposed to be some good clubs to go to but, I'm not a clubber so can't help you there & all the safe places in Miami are going to cost you some cash to hang there. I always thought if god was gonna give Florida an enema, he'd stick the hose in Miami.

It was at the main bar
The fridge will charge me if I lift something out of it for longer than 20 seconds & to give you an idea it is $10 for still water
I thought Ibiza was a rip off at 10 English pounds for a pint but this place takes the biscuit
