i think it was refreshing to hear him say "if i move up i have to take the time and put on weight properly"
if he does go up i don't want to see him go straight up to fight silva i think they should give him a couple of fights first and build anticipation for a silva fight as for who he would fight since he probably wouldn't want to fight nate i would like to see
GSP v Maia - this would be fascinating to see how GSP would deal with maia's agressive ground game
GSP v Hendo- hendo can Bang and wrestle and would be a good judge as to how good GSP is

if GSP goes up to 185 it is only for one person and that man is the Spider.

You guys cannot possibly be serious.... Yes GSP is a great welterwight. Yes he is dominating the division, right now. However, he only has three title defenses. The kid is only on a four fight win streak. He is building a strong argument for himself to be a Hall of Fame Inductee one day. However, if he decides to make his way to the Middleweight division, he could be setting himself up for failure. There are a number of fighters in the Middleweight division that will give him a world of trouble. My advice if he does move up is to stay away from those who have tremendous striking ability, or you could have a very short stay....

Im not sure which "guys" you are talking about, but the TS brought this up because there have already been talks in the past and now of a superfight between GSP and Anderson Silva so calm down

i actually don't think he will go up i think his agents have probably told him to stay at 170 and keep winning but those are the 2 guys he should fight to see if he is good enough to fight Silva

Do you really think GSP can move up in weight, and challange Silva, without have first fought other fighters in the division? Penn, dominated the Lightweight division and had to work his way up to a WW title fight. Silva is undefeated in the Octagon, and is still working his way up the LHW division.... Yes I know if Machida holds on to the title, Silva is not likely to challenge. So I'm going to have to side with davec that he builds up to the fight instead of getting a straight shot at Silva; and in the event that happens, I just don't see him being able to sneak past at least one fighter with vicious striking ability to get to Silva.

I think Maia would be an interesting fight if Nate beats him.

well think of it this way too tho, he has only defended his belt 3 times, true. But, he has won his past 11 of 12 fights. im not one to make excuses for fighters but i think a few people would agree that serra beating him was sort of a 1/1000000000000 kinda thing. all though he won, the better fighter was georges, and he sort of remained (to some) the champ of the people. he went on to defeat top contenders, kos hughes fitch bj serra and alves. so in a way, hes really defended himself 6 times. and had the (made up belt) interem belt since the hughes win.
i just dont think there are many contenders gsp hasnt defeated. but then again some of u may disagree

The thing is, there are few challengers left for GSP at WW. Same goes for Anderson at MW. Both are top-ranked on almost EVERYONES p4p list. His agent/manager/whathaveyou, might tell him to stick around at 170, but GSP is a competitor, he wants to challange himself, and push himself more. It was proven last night. Greg Jackson basically told GSP to shut up, and keep fighting (about GSP pulling is his groin).
I think that IF GSP were to make the transistion (which is possible, and GSP will take his time to bulk up properly), a couple of solid wins, he could challenge A.S for the title.

He'll know what BJ felt like. Probably get KTFO in the first though.

Why are some people giving GSP no chance? Anderson does not have good take down defense. GSP has the best takedowns and the most vicious gnp. This could be a very very good fight. I am no GSP fan, especially since he beat Serra, Penn and Alves. But I do want to see this, in the hopes that Silva murders him.

i think gsp will win this fight. his takedowns are too good and he is too good with gnp. he made alves look foolish, alves is a beast. gsp is on a level no one else is at

Silva has never relied on TD defense, BUT, he is a BJJ blackbelt, and is known to strike from the bottom, and sub from the bottom, VERY well. Ask Travis Lutter about it.

Stay put or earn a shot. All that hype with BJ moving up and he got handled. It makes no sense to be given a title shot in a higher weight class without even fighting in it.

It makes no sense for GSP to move up. WW is f---in stacked with talent. AS still has Hendo and the winner of Maia vs Marquardt in line for a title shot.
