To come back from losing 4 in a row in Pride/Dream, to having to campaign to just get a fight in UFC (when already under contract), losing that first fight to a person no longer in the UFC, to a 5-1-1 record in last 7 fights and winning an Interim Belt with (what would be) an overall record of 11-8-1.
I can't think of a bigger turnaround in career path.

Serra won The Belt. Against the greatest WW in MMA history. Through winning a reality TV show.
Hunt is fighting for an interim belt versus a guy who isn't the champ. Plus, Hunts turn around has been building for years versus world class Heavyweights (3-1-1 in the UFC versus UFC current top 15). It isn't coming out of nowhere. It is going to be very, very difficult for anyone to ever beat Serra for the MMA Cinderella title.

By far. I mean, he lost to Sean McCorkle, after the UFC tried to pay him off rather than give him fights.

True. But Serra got posterized by Shonie Carter at one point.

Serra was never really on as bad of a losing streak as Hunt was. Not to mention before TUF, Serra had been a big player at 155 during the early years of the division.
Hunt's a bigger comeback story, simply because the odds have been stacked much higher against him.

You could also add into your argument, that Serra had no prior knock outs, and GSP had never been knocked out.
The reality about Hunt, as cinderella as it is, is that he jumped in front of Stipe Milocic and Junior Dos Santos for a title shot. while it might be a moot point, he jumped ahead of a guy who knocked both him and Werdum out and ahead of a guy who's currently a more deserving contender in Stipe.

If Werdum had been hurt and Hunt were to fight and beat Cain, in Mexico, for The Belt, I could see a better argument. But historically this won't be remembered as a HW championship bout. Does anyone think of Carlos as a UFC WW champ?

Brock Lesnar could be added to the list of Cinderella stories. A Wrassler who became a "Real" Champ, both Hunt and Serra were Bonafide in the world of combat sports. Sure timing played its role and no denying he was a physical freak of nature that could actually wrestle but to come in with virtually no experience and make it to the top was pretty impressive

you also have to remember that Daniel Cormier won the SF title in which Werdum was apart of.
Werdum not having to face JDS, Cormier(who rolled through the SF tourny as a replacement), losing to Overeem, not facing Velasquez... doesn't exactly make a champ.
good thing it's an interim belt.

Serra was running that match until the back fist forget
I don't know about Cinderella stories but I would agree with the case I was just presented with that the heavyweight division is currently in a no-lose situation
JDS is matched against stipe,
Stipe wins, he is rightful top contender
if JDS wins he can have a match against the interim champ, both of whom he has already knocked out (one right out of the UFC)
if he wins interim fight then you have a real reason to have CAIN JDS 4, and in the event of a JDS win you can have (the firs?) 5 match rubber match in UFC/MMA (?)

I think a Serra edges Hunt slightly. Hunt would be a bigger come back but Serra won the title and Hunts is only an interim. Doesn't Carwin own an interim title but yet nobody discusses him as a HW champ
