the point is, the betting lines showed Fedor as a huge favorite, implying he would win. he didn't.
i was relating that scenario to the OP. just because Silva is the favorite doesn't really mean anything (other than those who bet on GSP are going to make a killing when he decisions the Lazy Spider. GSP won't fall for a movie-star inspired front kick and hasn't been out of action for over a year.

Very logical point of view. You should consider sports writing after that in-depth analysis.
Seriously though, I'm not gonna join the people who guarantee their fighter is gonna win by whatever. People who do that constantly eat crow. So many people on this forum claimed that Vitor was for sure going to KO Anderson. Definitely.
Even with my favorite fighter, who is considered the best in the world by most people, I never guarantee a win. In fact, the only times I've ever said a guy had no chance of losing this fight, he lost (Fedor's last 2 fights).
But I will say that I think Anderson is definitely the better fighter. I think he's better at punching, kicking, elbows, knees, in the clinch, footwork, finishing fights, BJJ, Judo, ability to take a punch, heart, and off his back. GSP has better wrestling, and has a great top game. That's about his only advantages in the fight.
So while I give the advantage to Anderson, GSP has a shot, and could potentially grind Anderson out.

i agree and i think that if GSp decides to stand to long the fight will be over to fast for him to realize it. it is an intriging match though. Wrestler vs Striker type

GSP couldn't even get Kos down with one eye and probably the most pain and distraction he's ever had.
GSP has never faced anyone as big or strong or skilled as Silva.

AS hasnt faced the best of the best constantly but he has always been impressive to me when he decides to really fight. hes a mystery to me to be honest.
As for GSP im not impressed with a fighter who cant finish a one eyed guy to be honest but he is dominant and a strong wreslter.
my favor leans with AS but GSP has a chance as well but chances of GSP finishing AS are zero to none and if it did happen then the end of the world as we know is upon us

GSP's jiu jitsu is waaaaaay better than Chael's, he will never be submitted as easily as Chael.
But then, i don't really think GSP is stronger than Chael on the takedown department. Chael is a a big strong wrestler and found an injuried A.Silva who was almost willing to go down.
This fight is all Silva, it will blow my mind if GSP takes it home.

GSP is pretty close to Chael in the takedown department. He's obviously not as big or strong, but he's faster and sets up his takedowns better. Vitor managed to land a takedown even though AS got right back up. GSP has better takedowns than Vitor and a much better folow-up game after the takedown. I'm not strictly talking about a strong top game, but the ability to keep the fight on the ground moments after the takedown.
GSP also is much better defensively standing than Vitor and as previously mentioned AS uses kicks/knees less against strong wrestlers/grapplers (presumably for fear of a takedown). This is important because at MW, AS' 1-strike KO power seems to be limited to kicks or knees and does not include punches (he obviously has powerful hands, but not one punch powerful). Add to this that AS's KO/TKO ability seems to diminish after the first two rounds and it's not such an open and shut case for Anderson Silva. A GSP decision is a very real possibility.

That's the part that bothers me. He wants to bulk up 20lbs before the fight, so logically he'll get slower, specially for takedowns right?
