A late addition to the DREAM 16 line-up has been made today with news that “Super Hulk” champion, Ikuhisa Minowa will take on former PRIDE and EliteXC star, James Thompson in Nagoya, Japan.
Thompson’s agent, Ken Pavia revealed the news to MMAFighting.com earlier today, explaining that both men have verbally agreed to the fight and will sign bout agreements shortly.
Minowa is on a five fight winning streak and has seemingly hit his stride as the giant-killer of the MMA world. He’s recently defeated the much bigger Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi and Jimmy Ambriz to become a firm fan-favourite with the Japanese fans.
Thompson has hardly been setting the world alight recently, with his last performance with DREAM being against Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem, a fight he lost early via submission. He holds notable wins over Don Frye and Hidehiko Yoshida.

minowa takes it easy. james thompson has the physique of a fighter but the rest isn't quite there.

Not shockingly, Thompson's ear is actually have tougher opponent than Thompson.

I'd like to see Minowa fighting some real fighters and try a title run. Mind you I want to see Minowa fight either Lashley or Batista at Dynamite just for the hell of it. I'm not entirely immune to the lure of a good freak show.
