IN 2010 we decided to run our lives "you either positively ADD to it, or your out". Even though I felt I was once again a puppet in my actions with my fathers illness, I tried my hardest to stick by this New Years Resolution as my family and I were too tired of being the nice people to people that took total advantage.
So since the move to a new town and a new attitude, we are running into people that are just like we were. Some of these people are new to us and one is familiar. But, how does one except the offering of kindness when it has been alway's attached to selfish ulterior motives by the giver?
I gave my life to my community for 7 years and now I see a community wanting to give to us. Could it be the new attitude?? The way I dress when outside? Making sure my family is almost always presentable in this new neighborhood? Watching what I say, being more reserved.............

I think that when relocating and starting fresh, people can only feed off what you give them, good bad or indifferent. If you feed mostly positive energy, people will eventually (sometimes it takes time) reciprocate. But i also think it's the little things that go a long way, just a polite hello, or holding the door open for someone, or letting the person who has one iten when you have fifty, jump in line in front of you. And honestly, clean clothes and good hygiene do make people more receptive.

This is interesting. Before we gave good, bad and indifferent to the community because of my role. I am kind of excited my community is going to get to know me as "tamara" the neighbor vs. the President of the HOA. I may find out very good things about myself.
and I only purpose this to fellow junkies, because I really do not hold people to the standards I listed. I look for GOOD people regardless, but , am noticing a change in how people are treating us in this new neighborhood.

Ever seen the movie Harry and the Henderson's??
I watched it last weekend with the boys. They loved it as much or more than I did. And I LOVED that movie when I was a kid. I actually thought of Charles while I was watching it.
