Anyone know? I think his best chance for success lies at WW.
Belfort wins this via brutal KO.

I don't even think Rumble knows if its permanent. He could get smashed and drop back down

It would probably be better for him, he won't have to start dieting as early and won't need to lose as much weight at the start of his camp.

It doesn't appear he can stay healthy and fight ready at WW, and realistically he's losing a lot of his prime on the shelf when contending WWs are fighting 2-3 times a year and are always fight ready and able to step in on short notice.
At MW he gets Belfort in his first fight, a win and he gets instant contender status in the MW division as Silva has cleaned out Belfort, Okami, Maia, and anybody else mentioned for a title shot right now.

That depends on the outcome of this fight. But not just the outcome. If he loses bit is competitive then I think he stays. If he gets smashed or loses a one sided decision..then its a toss up.

You better believe if he gets past Belfort it will be.

From his twitter...
"Ppl question why the move to 185? 1st its a challenge, 2nd because I want to, 3rd why not? What is life without challenges and trying something new? Life would be boring then!!! 170 is Still my home."

Weird. From what I read, its "I want to push myself, and fight a top flight opponent". He makes the weight cuts (even if missing from time to time) each time he competes. Maybe he wants to add some longevity to his career (which will be done with the less drastic weight cut). Maybe he realizes that a title will never happen at WW, so he moved up.
He wants a bigger test, and Vitor can provide that.

All depends how he looks.
I'm sooo interested to see how he performs. When fighting at WW, the dude is so drained at the weigh-ins. That has to play a huge role come fight now. At MW, the dude is should be explosive.

Unless rumble blows up 15lbs beyond his usual walk around and cuts the same weight... I think he should perform better. He cuts from upwards of 220

I don't think so. Saying WW is his home is basically a back of plan just in case he fails at 185. Rumble is just too damn big for 170. He's gotten better getting down to that weight, but the dude is going to seriously have ill effects to his body if he continues.

How is welterweight his best chance for success when he struggles to make weight and is cutting from 230 pounds from a fight? He shouldn't be cutting that much. Middleweight is the better way to go.

Nobody knows until we see him test himself at 185, IMO if he gets destroyed we'll be seeing "Midnight" do that crazy cut back down to 170. I'm looking forward to see how he copes at Middleweight.

No-one can cut to 170 from 220.
He might get to 220ish when he's not in training, but a lot of that will be cut at the start of the camp & by dieting throughout the camp. I doubt he cuts from anything over 190.

I hope he sticks to 185. He can be successful there without the burden of draining himself so badly. I'd like to see him go toe to toe with Brian Stann.
