Sitting here at my computer for years, looking on Wikipedia and waiting for the next Welterweight Contendership bout to be announced, and boom all of a sudden an upset happens, a drug controversy happens, or somebody has to pull out with an injury. I mean am I the only person who has noticed that? I mean is the Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout curse? Next I'll tell you about Welterweight Contendership Bouts that were set in stone to happen, when they were going to to happen, what happened to screw them up, and what fight we got to see instead and you tell me your thoughts on the subject and when we will get to see a Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout that was set in stone to happen?
Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout : Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves
When was it supposed to Happen : UFC 90 : Silva vs. Cote
What happened to stop it : Diego Sanchez pulled out with an injury (staph infection).
Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout We Saw Instead : Josh Koscheck vs. Thiago Alves
Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout : Josh Koscheck vs. Karo Parisyan ( Wikipedia even had it up before both fights )
When it was supposed to Happen : UFC 100 : Lesnar vs. Mir II
What happened to stop it : Paulo Thiago knocking out Koscheck and Parisyan's DrugGate at UFC 94 against Kim Dong-Hyun.
Welterweight ( Not #1 Contendership Bout ) We saw instead : Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago
Welterweight #1 Contendership Bout : Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann
When it was supposed to Happen : UFC 103 : Franklin vs. Belfort
What happened to stop it : Mike Swick pulled out with an injury.
Welterweight (Partial for Martin Kampmann, should he had won) Bout We Saw Instead : Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley.

It is just karma paying back Swick, Kos and Fitch for not fighting each other and messing up the WW division.

Actually Swick said he'd fight both, and Kos and Fitch have said for the title or number one contender they fight.

I still think the curse on the UFC HW belt is a better curse.
Until Tim rid us of it, that belt was cursed fo sho.
No one could defend that damned thing.

I don't remember where I read that Swick said he would fight either Fitch or Kos
ONLY IF IT WAS FOR THE TITLE
, and just recently I read that Fitch said if Swick beat Kampman and subsequently beat GSP, then he would move up to MW and leave WW for Swick. Again I dont remeber where exactly I read this but it was either here or Yahoo. I'm sure someone can find a link.

I don't get this idea of not fighting team members or friends.
IMHO, fighting a friend or team member is the ultimate sign of respect and honor in each other's abilities.

A curse? I'm not so sure, perhaps it's god's way of saying it's time for Anderson Silva and GSP to get in the octagon together.
Weather it happens early next year or late next year, it's happening. Both of these guys should win their next two fights, especially GSP easily, Anderson will probably take out Vitor than Hendo/Nate.
Than hopefully MMA will be legalized in the NYC and we will see GSP vs Anderson Silva for the MW Championship at MSG.

Yeah, I do believe Josh Koscheck vs. Karo Parisyan would've been for #1 Contendership at UFC 100. But I guess that's just my person opinion.
