simple question.
I actually do. I think a lot of people forget how good he was in his prime. One of the biggest drawing fighters and household names in North America. Urijah put the lower weight classes on the map, and is one of the most creative fighters to enter to a ring/cage. Not to mention his heart is unquestionable after surviving that fight against Aldo

I was probably one of the biggest Faber fans around during his WEC days, but no. He had an awesome run and is hugely responsible for bringing lighter weights to peoples attention, and was an entertaining fighter and personality....but I think the sport caught up with him. When Faber was ruling the WEC there weren't as many good lighter weight fighters as there are now, and a lot of them are better than he is now. I just cant call a guy who is 5-5 in his last 10 fights "one of the greatest p4p fighters of all time"

he was certainly one of the most influential. He put lighter weights on the map in the states and was one of the best of his time, no doubt. P4P arguments involve too much speculation, let alone all time p4p. JMO.

Top 20 p4p? Definitely. He had a great run as a featherweight, but his competition level wasn't always great. It wasn't terrible by any means, and I do agree that he is tough as nails. As far as being a top ten all-time p4p fighter, I just think too many other people deserve a spot over Faber.

I'll jump on the point that maggotbrain made and state that I would definitely name Faber as one of the top 10 influential fighters of the last 10 years

I know. I've already stated I don't believe he's a top p4p of all time, but I do believe he's one of the most influential

He is one of the most gifted fighters ever and by that I mean, gifted title shot after title shot to try and get him another belt.

I was a FaberHater for a few years. I almost always cheered against him. I thought he was arrogant, corny, etc. Until I met him in person. He could not have been more classy, down-to-earth, and professional. So I gotta cheer for him against Menjivar (even though I am a fan of Menjivar).
I pretty much had the opposite experience with Frankie Edgar. I always enjoyed watching him fight, but he is not very friendly in real life. I think he wants to be black or something

one of the pioneers for the smaller weight classes yes,
and a good champion that was on a very nice win streak
but as for one of the p4p best... no

Without a doubt, the Chin is, hands down, the best P4P fighter on the planet.
Bar none.
That he doesn't top the lists is a travesty.

Faber is a cool guy, and he definitely was a pioneer for the sport's smaller weight classes. P4P, I would say that he was at a time in the top 10, but now he's passed his prime and is pretty much guaranteed to get into the UFC Hall Of Fame.
But getting to your point with Edgar, you may have just caught him at a bad time. Fans like us contribute to a lot of the talk that annoys him to death: dropping to 145, his lack of a finishing rate, the closeness of his decisions... hearing that stuff over a long period of time can get on a dude's nerves, and maybe someone made him angry when you met him... or it's just a Jersey thing.

Influential? Certainly. One of the P4P greatest? No. The two don't correlate in this scenario.

I'm having a very hard time believing this. I have met Frankie many times, and he is the most humble, down to earth guy I've ever met.
