This would be the perfect match. I give Fitch the victory.

Shields, though Fittch stand up is better, this fight is bound to end on the ground and what Shields has showed me recently he is GSP like on the ground...oh yes i went there

If Shields can do that to hendo on the ground, that fast, effecient then I believe he can win it.

I wonder how many of you taking Shields are bandwagon borders because of his fight with Hendo....

not a bandwagon guy here, just summing up all his fights hes pretty legit ever since. he beat daley who is now close to contention in the ufc.
he moved up to unfamiliar grounds and beat lawler.

I though the terms
exciting fight
and
John Fitch
were mutually exclusive?

I'll take Fitch, the guy is just too relentless and too scrapy + I think he's a better wrestler. Very competitive fight though, but I wouldnt call it exciting.

Both strikers with a piss poor ground game. Styles make fights and jake always had a big advantage there if he could get the TD.

there it is my friend. HE took them down, it wasnt like they had to lay down for him.
should we discredit shields for getting a poor ground fighter on the ground?

So what does taking a couple of strikers with piss poor ground games (or TDD for that matter) down and submitting them tell us about a potential fight with John Fitch, one of the best wrestlers in the division?

I don't think I've ever seen anybody try and take Shields down. I'd be interested in seeing how good his TDD is and what he can do off his back. Shields is very good but even if he drags Fitch down I don't see him being able to keep him down like he did Hendo. This fight is bound for the judges hands and I'd guess that Fitch wins the standup and holds Shields down for longer than Shields holds Fitch down.

I don't know about anyone else. But I love being able to say fighter A is the best fighter in his weight class on any given day. That's why I really got into MMA. I stated watching it, and then I said to myself, well who's the best... I mean that's how the UFC started out. Remember watching Gracie, do what we thought at the time was nothing for minutes on end. I wanted to know who was the best even then. With that in mind, I can enjoy any fight that could play into the title picture. Now if John Fitch and Jakes Shields were both in the UFC debut, I probably will not enjoy it.
