I think I remember reading people say that Shields worked Fitch in a grappling match back inthe day. While it may be true, they had two matches against each other. Fitch won one of them. Just thought it was funny because people think Shields is so much better of a grappler.

Well the point I was trying to make, is even if Shields is better, its not by that much. People act as if they faught each other then Shields could take him down and out grapple him. I think its far from the truth

The first match came down too a controversial " advantage point " the second match Shields took Fitch down took his back and choked him out. Shields is an all around top grappler.
Watch his choke out of 7 time BJJ black belt World Champ Leo Santos in the semi's of the ADCC's to be one of only 2 North Americans to medal when he was still a purple belt. Santos tapped out GSP in one minute of the first round of the same tournament, both are on youtube. The same year as a purple belt he won the ProSubAbsolute's (all weights) defeating 3 time heavyweight blackbelt BJJ World Champ and TUF Show finalist Vinnie Margalhas.
Jake Shields is by far the best grappler at WW, and maybe in all of MMA.

Not saying Jake Shields isnt a great grappler, he prolly is the best in the weight class. My point was that Fitch wouldnt just get rolled especially when you throw in striking and all that.

You know what, I don't care all that much about their grappling matches. In the Octagon, Fitch would work Shields over. Especially if he comes in looking like he did versus Kampmann. But he won't get dusted by Fitch until after St. Pierre mauls him. And Thiago will put him to sleep.

Mmath doesn't work in grappling matches either. GSP is five times the mixed martial artist Jake Shields could ever dream of being.

Shields is one of my favorite fighters top 5 fav. So obviously in my mind he can beat
FITCH
again and he really can. (i put he can beat himself no h--- accidnetly)
but Aoki is by far the most effective grappler. Him and recently Werdum. Maia is good but has been beaten by top comp before. Aoki has submitted top comp in Eddie and kawajiri which just pretty much speaks for its self. Werdum with Fedor the #1 HW in the world who was pretty much unstopable.
I think Shields is the best JJ guy at WW though

Jake Shields might be an excellent grappler in grappling tournaments but he is NOT the best MMA grappler in MMA or at WW at all. Not even close. GSP is a far better MMA grappler. Keep in mind, grappling in MMA is a lot different than grappling in tournaments. Just like striking in MMA is a lot different than striking in boxing.
