Jamahal really screwed this up. Alas he becomes champ & gets those PPV points worth potentially millions. Either way, he gets a massive bump & what does he do? He puts on a load of timer whilst waiting for a guy with a ruined shoulder to return. He's at all the events, front row flashing that bling with what seems to be with no consideration to actually securing his financial future. The fight game is brutal & you've got to take your opportunities when they come, you absolutely cannot wait - look at Izzy & Volk as examples. Activity is everything until you're in the privileged position of having defended multiple times.
Jamahal didn't beat the champ to get the belt, he didn't defend the belt, he didn't lose the belt to a contender. I doubt very much he's emotional over losing his title reign, he's gutted cos he's just lost his jackpot.
I reckon the UFC will do what I suspect they did with Jiri - allow his return fight to be done under the champ contract in return for giving up the title. But still, he messed up big time. I hope he makes a speedy recovery & comes back motivated & ready.

End of the year or early next year...
Aleksandar Rakić says he's ready to go..he'd be my pick for one of the slots. I could also see Johnny Walker in the second slot if he's ready to go or even give Glover a call
Ankalaev
pissed off Dana (as did Walker)

How did
Ankalaev
piss off Dana? If anyone should be pissed it should be
Ankalaev
after getting robbed against Jan. Rakic needs a fight, a win and Glover is done, he’s old, he’s happy retired. This divisions just wide open now. This is why I’m not opposed to 6-8 men tournaments sometimes, but it seems like the UFC don’t entertain the idea anymore.

Rakic doesn't
really
need a win, he lost his fight due to injury in a match he was winning because he took a bad step
and the other a SD that most people gave to him...so if he's available you would think he's the first option.
So you've a sixth guy to get a shot at the vacated belt one of those spots should do to Alexandar.
I think the UFC is going to book whomever is ready for UFC in either August or September.

It don’t really matter what could’ve been. At the end of the day, Rakic lost his last fight, lost 1, won 2 then lost again. That’s 2-2 in his last 4. Ank has 9 wins and a bulls--- draw that even Jan was thinking wtf? The two guys behind Rakic are on a 3 fight streak each so maybe he should face one of those first as his comback fight, but Ank should be facing Jiri for the interim now, 1-2 respectively in the rankings. I know you like Rakic, I do too but I still have a problem with any guy that’s getting a instant title shot from a loss, irrespective if he hurt his knee or not. More reason for him to fight someone else as his first fight back and not for the instant title shot.
