Brookins is going to get handled in this fight I'm afraid. His lack of stand up skills paired with Stephens also being good on the ground makes me think he's in over his head.

Who does Brookin train with? Hopefully they explain to him the fundamentals of keeping your hands up while striking.
I do like that TUF winners aren't getting Elvis Sinosic type fights anymore, they're getting durable veterans.

Gracie Barra Orlando last I knew. Not really a camp known for sending guys into fights with solid stand up skills.

Chances are, this ends awfully bad for Brookins. He's facing the LW with some of the heaviest hands in the game, and he has no striking defense. But with that being said, he's crafty, has some slick TD's, and can take a beating. Stephens has been handled on the ground before. But like I said, chances are, Stephens rolls, but I'm not officially signing off on Brookins death just yet

Agreed. I was very pleased when I saw Big Country's first fight was against Stefan Struve. Much better than Amir Sadollah getting Johnny Hendricks and Kendall Grove getting Chris Price.

One of the things I would like to see improved with MMA judging is credit given for an aggressive guard/bjj game. This fight is the classic stand up vs ground game. However, should this fight be spent equally on the feet and on the mat, Stephens easily wins a decision.

It will be on the feet for 30-40 seconds, and that's how long brookins will still be lying the mat, maybe more.

While Stephens can KO Brookins, Brookins can prolly submit Stephens. If he just has mediocre stand up and use it enough to take him down, he can win this fight. Look for Stephens to throw big punches, Brookins to tie him up, and get him to the ground

Stephens has some decent TDD, at least enough to stuff Brookins' shots if they're not set up by decent striking. And regardless, if Stephens is able to land a big punch, I think Brookins is going down hard.

Yeah, Jonathan's stand up is a question mark, but this is the same kid that made it into the 3rd round aginst Aldo. I'm a Big Brookins' fan from the show but I have to give L'il Heathen the edge here, but if Brookins can get him down, Jeremy will be in trouble.
I'd bet on Stephens, but I'll rooting for Brookins. FYI, I like Stephens as a fighter, too - I just like Brookins more.
