What kind of fights/transfers did Coker say would take 8 months to a year? I'm really not sure, but these are the kinds of fights I anticipated.
And in this instance what a good sounding one (if correct/sees fruition), the perfect "not everyone can be a UFC champ" situation with the best (and yet still honorable) solution for a talented but somewhat displaced fighter in Miller and an unchallenged but maybe a little ahead of himself in Edgar-talk Melendez. Perfect match for each man, hope it happens, would be a toss up imo.

Man I don't get it sometime, ya gil looks great right now but look who he is fighting! Jim miller is on a tear in a stacked division. This is no way gonna be a one sided fight if it happens. IMO miller should be the favorite. Btw mmaweekly ranking Gil at number one is laughable.

I sort of agree and I want to see him go for the winner of Maynard/Edgar. Maybe he feels if he does this he gets a title shot against a big named, top ranked opponent now and it would be a way to get the fast track to a unification match since you still have business to settle with Edgar/Maynard and then Pettis/Guida. Not to mention Guillard coming up.
The problem is that his huge winstreak is only going to get him so far in such a freaky division.

I certainly am not sold on it either, but at the same time, Miller seems like the kind of dude who is always wanting to prove himself. Or maybe Dana told him he wasn't getting a title shot yet, who knows.
If the fight happens, I think Jim might be in some trouble here. He's a tough guy to count out of fights, so unlike some people, I don't think it will be EXTREMELY one-sided. But at the same time, I think Gil could take it fairly decisively.

I agree, Im just not diving into this head first when there have been plenty of " rumors " fall through even the past couple days. I do think if Miller was offered a fight with Gil, he may take it if he was offered a fight to possibly unify the belts if he was to beat Melendez.
