Just out of curiosity, how come Joe Rogan seems so insightful and catches almost everything during a fight? He makes the other guy seem stupid sometimes. Some examples are from the Couture vs Lesnar where he correctly states that Couture was hit to the temple, while the other announcer and all my friends and I thought that he was hit in the neck, and during the Bisping vs. Henderson fight, where he almost predicts how the fight will end up, talking about how Bisping was gonna be in big trouble because he kept circling to Hendo's right side. I mean why is this guy so good at what he does, when he comes from Fear Factor and stand up comedy?
Joe has been a hardcore fan since the beginning. So he has over a decade of experience watching, and he trains BJJ giving him insight on the ground game. As for correcting Goldie on the Lesnar thing, it's probably because Goldie is the play-by-play guy and has to keep his eyes on the action while Joe can watch the replay.

He's not that good at what he does. In many, many fights he hypes one fighter with complete bias. He's the reason i generally watch fights muted so that i'm not swayed by what the announcers are saying and can watch the fight with out some guy hyping one fighter, and clearly discounting what the other fighter is doing.

He said Matt Brown should have beaten Dong Hyun Kim and Brown clearly lost 2 of the rounds, and at this UFC he said Alan Belcher was robbed. Belcher could have won, but didn't. It was a close fight and neither would've been robbed by the decision.

Goldie was actually the first one to mention Bisping circling to his right and into Dan's power (though that's really not that perceptive.)

I am also quite tired of Joe Rogan bias when commentating. For the GSP vs. Penn 2 fight Rogan was all over BJ while he was getting his *** kicked. Rogan finally started talking about GSPs performance after 3 rounds of one sided action. Any fight Karo Parysian is in you notice it as well.
Joe Rogan trains BJJ with Eddie Bravo who is world class, the fist American to tap out a (Royler) Gracie. I think Joe has boxing experience at some point in his past. Joe has been working with the UFC since UFC 16 or 17 and he is a huge fan of the sport. Joe sits right at the edge of the cage and often he sees the fight from an angle that the camra might miss. Joe smokes weed, so he's smarter, stronger and gets erections that last four hours or more, look what it did for Micheal Phelps. Oh yeah... Joe is a black belt in Tae kwon Do, not that TKD means much in MMA. :ugeek:

I was at that fight and i thought brown won
Joe Rogan is quite possibly the top P4P announcer in MMA history. Like others pointed out, he is just more involved. Mike Goldberg has maybe got into a few training sessions but Joe is much more involved with the sport.
And since we're on the topic of Joe Rogan... I noticed that at the weigh in's he was wearing a short sleeved shirt and that was the first time I could remember seeing him in a tshirt because he's always in a long sleeve shirt covering up his tattoos.
Rogan is a top notch commentator, I just wish they would have Goldberg, Rogan and (insert fighter) more often.
Frank Mir, Kenny Florian and Randy Couture are all great when they're commentating.

so does the fact that mir and bas are bigger heavier guys make it an uneven comparison without the P4P label?

Not to mention he has to constantly correct himself.

Oh come on that's a bad example!
The 2 a relatively close to each other anyways.
I couldnt hear rogan or goldie and i was telling everyone that bisping is going to get KO'd as long as he keeps circleing into Hendo's right hand. It doesnt take a genius to figure that one out. But i dont take credit away from rogan, he knows his stuff. I still prefer Mir or Florian over rogan.
Wasn't it Matt Wiman vs. Jim Miller where Joe Rogan was saying how good Matt Wiman was doing from guard when he was actually just getting punched in the face over and over...
Miller laid a 15 minute beatdown and Rogan talked about Wiman the whole fight.
