Joe and Goldie give us what we hear.
Dana White gives us the sales pitch.
But Joe Silva gives us what we see.
The little man with the big smile, through his match-ups, has had the biggest influence in shaping the face of MMA.
He gives us what we see based on his gut feelings and his interpretation of the influences of his bosses and the fans.
He reads what we want and surprises us with fights we never saw coming yet rarely asks for or gets much recognition.
Joe Silva should be in line for the HOF.

He actually gets a lot of recognition and credit I think on MMA forums, he does a great job and sometimes there are some strange match-ups where you prefered another one but remember, not every fight is possible. Sometimes fans get mad cause they think there was a better match-up for some fighters but you maybe they offered that fight to the fighters and they passed or there was some other disagreement/difficulty that made the fight impossible.
Anyway, Joe Silva is a great matchmaker and a great asset for the UFC!

He gets the job done, but honestly I think myself and alot of other people could do as equally good a job.

I'm not so sure. There is a whole lot more to making matchups on the UFC level than anybody knows.

True, but the same could be said about most professions. That's why people get an education.

I wouldn't call him the god father of mma, more like the luckiest man in the world cause he has the job we all want. And for that I dont like him

Its also Joe SIlva's job to scout new talent in smaller shows I believe and that can't be easy.

People think they can do a great job and its funny. Most of their match ups that fans make are the big fights and for the most part no brainers. People forget about the first fight on each fight card between fighters that are relatively unknown or not thought/talked about.
And Silva gets a ton of credit. A lot of fighters mention him after their fights when talking about who they fight next, usually something like "ill fight whoever Dana and Joe ask me to fight". And before each weigh in Joe Rogan usually says, "Joe Silva, matchmaker extraordinare."

What did Silva used to do before he got this job?

I've always wondered how often fighters don't take fights for reasons other than injury. I recall recently a fighter thanking the guy he just beat on for taking the fight because a bunch of other fighters refused the fight since there was no upside(he was considered a tough fight but no name value)
