Joe Rogan Says Fedor Isn't Keeping Up With the Times in MMA
UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan commented on Fedor Emelianenko, saying he's too fat to fight with today's heavyweights and hasn't kept up with the pace of the sports.

Re: JoeRogan gives his thoughts on the evolution of the Spor
He's right. I think Fedor at 205 or even 185 with abs could have another 3 more years of destruction and possibly a title.

Re: JoeRogan gives his thoughts on the evolution of the Spor
Fedor at 185 would be amazing if his power somewhat stayed.
Basicly Just said Fedors age cought up with him. what HW is a great striker, submission specialist and grappler?
not many right?
its Fedors age but if he can manage to go down to 185 he would beat alot of people because alot of the MW strikers at MW arnt that good at striking.
205 is dangerous though but possible

I like him because he doesn't tow the company line. You'd expect your general zuffa zombie to follow Uncle Dana's rhetoric and say it doesn't matter because Fedor has NEVER been relevant, etc..etc..etc.. But, Rogan tells it like it is and guess what? Uncle can't do anything about it because Rogan is wealthy beyond his wildest dreams already.. he doesn't NEED the UFC.
Granted, I would imagine he'd be heartbroken to lose his dream job, but there are different rules for those who are needed vs. those who need you, so I can't imagine that's ever going to happen.

I agree that Fedor would do better to drop to 205. You look at his fat and think he could possibly make 185, but I'm doubtful. Either way, Fedor was always competing in the weakest division (and this isn't to take away from Fedor), so dropping down to 205 which is considered one of the strongest divisions might not be as productive as some might think. On yet another hand, I think his biggest weakness is wrestling defense and 205 doesn't have a lot of aggressive great wrestlers, even now.

^^^ Has the guy ever had to cut weight before?
At his age, I can't see him going for having to cut weight. Unless you are just talking about him dieting down so he just walks around and competes at 205

Re: JoeRogan gives his thoughts on the evolution of the Spor
Joe Rogan is brilliant. I could listen to him talk all day. He's totally right. Fedor has let the sport evolve around him, the athletes at heavyweights are bigger faster and stronger. If Fedor could have cut down to 205 he could have been faster and stronger than many 205ers.

Precisely.
I personally believe that Fedor has been on a downward slope for the last few years, yet the competition he was facing haven't been able to expose it. Brett Rogers came close to beating Fedor, Fabricio Werdum got a flash submission which was moreso Fedor being over-zealous, then Antonio Silva absolutely battered him.
Fedor can still do what he used to do, it's just going to be more of a struggle as he hasn't evolved with the sport. It's happened with a lot of that-era fighters.

Ive been saying it for 3 to 4 years now. Fight fans still dont realize that MMA fighters(fan faves) are not evolving. Younger fighters are becoming so dynamic that fighters from a few years ago have no choice but to evolve. Fedor being case in point.

Rumour is, he'll be fighting Dan Henderson. It'll be interesting to find out at what weight.

185 - 205 -HW I think Anderson would own him. Silva is just to fast for Fedor and I think he would light him up.

watch Fedor vs Nog
the Takedowns
Fedor has the skillset that Anderson would fail against. that being Good TDs, Great grappling, and we dont know but a gas tank.

I don't know how anyone can not like Rogan. He's funny, he's smart, and he actually trains with legit people and knows his s---. I could go without his mindless rants about drugs, but as far as commentating and general MMA related s--- goes, he's the man.

Speaking of younger fighters, I'm really hoping that Rory "the Waterboy" McDonalds' last second loss to NBK, turns out to be just a bump in the road. Nate Diaz is going to be another tough test for this kid, come UFC 129.
According to D.W., this is one of those New fighters on the cusp of growing up as a MixedMartialArtist, one who's started his training in all disciplines. It'll be interesting to watch him progress.

Fedor is too slow to execute those takedowns against Anderson, so it would become a kickboxing match for all intents and purposes, and sorry, but Anderson would make Fedor's sloppy (but effective against slower heavyweights) striking look really bad.
