Not really, he's not at the top of the 135 division because he was a top guy in a smaller class. Almeida already faced a former flyweight who was moving back up, time for him to face the guys who have been in the top 10 of the 135 division

Ah... got my divisions mixed up. He'd probably be slotted at #5 in that division. At least in the #5-7 range. No way they are ranking Sterling above him. So it would be a #5 vs a #7. I'll take it. It's a good match up. I'm not gonna let the W vs W match-making ruin a good fight.

That's just one of many reasons the fight shouldn't happen right now. Dodson has yet to look impressive since returning from his layoff. No need to reward him with a fight against the hottest prospect at 135 right now. He hasn't earned it.

Dodson has a win over the current champ at bantamweight. And it's not like Almeida is next in line for a title shot anyways.

Who you giving him then? Assuncao (isn't he hurt?) and Caraway are the only 2 options. It would be kind of fun to see Caraway get wrecked but that's a shitty fight that I am sure Caraway wants no part of. They aren't going to give him Sterling and take out one of their two best prospects in the division. That would probably be the fight to make but I don't see them doing it. Every one else is off a loss... Faber and Barao are off of losses. If you drop the W vs W idea, I would love to see Almeida vs Barao.

Holding onto a win over a rookie TJ like it REALLY means anything today as the best reason to give him a top 10 135'er right away is not a very good reason

Caraway or Mizugaki. Hell I can see a possible Faber fight after he beats Saenz next month.

Wow... so you think Dodson should get outside of the top 10? That's crazy IMO. If the #2 guy in any other division moved up a division, especially someone coming off of multiple title shots, they would never put him #11 or below. The only possible #2 maybe is Woodley moving up to MW... MW is loaded.
Caraway-Almeida is probably the right fight to make according to the rankings and W/L but Dodson-Almeida is a much better fight.

I wouldn't mind him fighting Sterling for #1. But I think that's the only way the UFC does it. If it's not a #1 contender shot I don't think they'll want to eliminate one or the other.
