Injuries are a part of every professional sport, but in the UFC they can wreak havoc on the organization's plans, especially when they hit as often as they have for this summer's fight cards.
After losing two fights from the UFC 149 card in July on Friday, the UFC has lost another fight for a July card. According to a report from The Wrestling Observer, Jon Fitch has suffered a knee injury in training, taking him out of a bout with Aaron Simpson at UFC on Fuel 4.
Injuries kept him out of action for much of 2011, and in his return bout he was knocked out by Johny Hendricks at UFC 141 last December. This injury will further sideline the former Welterweight Title challenger, who now hasn't won a fight since August of 2010.
Simpson himself will hope to stay on the card, as he'll be making his welterweight debut after a split decision loss to Ronny Markes in February.

I sort of want Simpson vs Rory because Rory hasnt faced a really good wrestler yet who also has decent striking.

My problem with that fight is you would be stoping one of the two hottest prospects in the division.

I hate when things like that happen. Change of opponent "Oh I'm injured" or Oh I gotta develop a gameplan for his style, weak sauce. Lets see how right you are. Glad fitch and simpson aren't gonna stink up the place

That sucks for the sport, Fitch vs Simpson would have been an epic ground battle or else a dodgy kickboxing match.
As a fan of Fitch, I am glad he isn't fighting Simpson, that was one hell of a bad match up for him. I'd like to see Simpson vs Woodley if he came over or in the meantime let him fight John Hathaway.

With one punch, Hendricks set fitch's career back..... For the rest of his life. If he were an exciting fighter or a fighter who who seemed like he understood how the sport actually works then he could have possibly come back from basically losing to a lightweight, being injured, and getting demolished by a welterweight wrestler who actually is exciting.

Also Johnny Hendricks landed one punch, he threw perfectly, Fitch didn't defend it at all, he got caught. It happens.
