Can someone elaborate on why Jon Fitch is
still
getting screwed.
He comes off a title shot, possible Fight of the Year, and they put him against 2 much lower-level fighters on the undercard, no less. They even screwed him on UFC 100, putting him as the very last fight. And it doesn't hurt to mention he finished Thiago Alves in less than 2 rounds, when it GSP 5 and didn't finish the fight.
I don't get it.
Fitch would murder Swick, punish Kappmann, and he's not even in the mix of contender status or match-ups.
He is currently clearly still the No.1 Contender, his only loss in the octagon in 11 fights was to GSP, and it was a very good fight.
If he's gettin' screwed over b/c of the whole video game contract debacle, that's bs. Dana should not take personal grudges into consideration when it comes to seeing who is the best and putting the most challenging fights for the Champion.

His loss against GSP was really bad, just completely devastating and one-sided. It would be really hard for the UFC to market a second fight against GSP and have anyone believe he has a shot. Maybe if it was a quick TKO by GSP you could make an argument but it was 5 rounds of devastating domination leaving to inkling that he had a chance. So at this point the UFC isn't really interested in putting Fitch back in there unless he starts finishing some guys impressively....which he hasn't really finished anyone in a while.

I think because his title fight was just two fights ago, I don't think they would give him a rematch just yet, I think they'll give him someone like Kampmann or Alves (again) and if he beats them than maybe he'll get back in line. Personally I'd like to see him face Alves again, I think that would be a sick fight!

+1, Alves vs Fitch II could be really good.

putting someone on the main card of the biggest UFC in history is not screwing them. Oh, and I stopped reading after your comparing how it took longer for GSP to beat Alves. I dont even like GSP, but using statistics like that in fights that were so far in between is just silly

Comparing the Alves that fought GSP and the Alves that fought Swick is erroneous. He has improved 10-fold since then. That is like saying Spencer Fisher should be considered up there with the WW pack because he submitted Alves and GSP went to a decision.

I am a huge Fitch but GSP kicked his *** so freaking bad. GSP vs Fitch 2 wont be different. Plus he is not getting screwed, his UFC 100 fight was the last cuz they didnt have time with 2 title fights left. To be on the UFC 100 main card is a huge honor.

As much as I don't want to think about it, I think some of it still has to do with the whole video game dispute. Some of it has to do with how bad he got messed up by GSP, too. The thing I'll say about that though, is that Marquardt was destroyed by Anderson and it took him about 4 wins to get back in the mix. I say give Fitch a top contender after his next fight and he should be right back there.

Alves hasn't fought Swick. Are you talking about Fitch?

i still want to see Chris Lytle vs. Alves II. i was at that fight in Jerze and it was stopped due to a cut on Lytle but it was shapping up to be the best fight of the night. the 1 1/2 rounds of that fight was better than the 3 rounds of Evans vs. Bisping.
i know Lytle was supposed to fight Wednesday, but was injured....so hopefully they can make that happen at some point.

Fitch is probably one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC and in MMA in general. That is partially because he is in GSP's division and while he won over a ton of fans with his heart and determination, he was'nt really in that fight and I think it is similar to the Franklin/Silva problem where no one seems to be interested in a rematch because it would be tough to say Fitch just had a bad night since he was beat down for all 5 rounds. At least with Franklin you could say he was coming off some pretty major injuries and give him another shot quickly.
I love fitch, he is in my list of top 3 fighters(Franklin #1, and Fitch/Condit tied for number 2). I hope he gets another shot soon and I think he deserves it but he is in a tough position.
Fitch also is not quite as....outrageous....as some fighters. Rampage loses to Griffin, beats a very obviously down Wanderlei and an inconsistent Jardine, and is in line for a title shot.(Its not that I dont think he would have deserved it, I like rampage but for comparison sake).
Honestly same with Couture and Nog. They both are coming off of LOSES and the winner of that fight gets a title shot after 1 win? They are legends and very well known so name recognition is a key factor as well.
Fitch is better known after his gps loss but still.......not the same as those guys and he isnt loud and brash to get name recognition like page.

Y is people saying Fitch isn't worthy of another title fight with GSP rite now? Cause GSP beat him so bad? Well Serra beat the hell outta GSP in there first bout! I mean Serra dismantled GSP, embarrassed him!! But yet GSP gotta instant rematch!!

GSP didn't get an instant rematch, he fought Hughes.
Fitch isn't getting screwed, he looked horrible in his UFC 100 match(had plenty of chances to win and didn't close it out and got the decision).

Not to be smart and all, but that was only because Serra got hurt in training. If they were both healthy GSP would have to fight a couple fights before he gets his belt back because there was no one else at that point to take that fight.
and he did fight 2 fights, I forgot about the Kos beatdown.

He fought two fights before he recieved a rematch with Serra. At the time he fought Koscheck, Kos was knocking on the dorr of a title shot, and when he fought Hughes, Hughes was the number one contender.

Ok, I didn't mean 2 get attacked by every junkie in here, I'm just simply saying that people r saying Fitch don't deserve a rematch with GSP because GSP beat him in such devastating fashion, when Serra destroyed GSP in a highlite reel fashion but yet he got a quick rematch!
