How will this, affect his sponsorships? Or will he get a deal with a liquor company ?
What I find funny is he was in bud light commercials and nobody said anything ....

He should be judged as a normal human.
We (almost) all drink. Some of us drove while drunk. But you have to be stupid, very stupid, when you're THAT rich, not to pay a taxi to go home when you're drunk. I'm not saying that if you aren't rich, you can drive drunk, in this case, you just don't drink
.
Back to topic: Jon Jones is a great mix martial artist, might be the GOAT when he's older, but he is stupid. And he shouldn't be forgiven BECAUSE he's a good fighter.

mistakes happen..........damn if the world forgave Rampage then this SHOULD be no sweat to forgive Jones
*edit* i'll actually answer the poll..........NO it should not be forgotten because of anything to do with MMA. Should be forgotten because it was just a mistake

Likely not the first time he is done it, hopefully the last. Drinking and driving is a hard habit to break out of. Tough to draw that line between when you think you are fine and sensing you are too impared. Best way around it is to not drive even with 1 drink. Hopefully Jones will learn something from this. First of all that drinking and drivins is wrong, but secondly he is now in the spot light and it is a risk that he does not need to take. Too much bad press can come back his way. He is no longer an average Joe and when he makes mistakes, they will pop up somewhere and hurt his image and possibly his bank account

A mistake is something you do unwillingly like put on the wrong socks and notice it later
You can't say its a mistake to consume alcohol and then willingly hop in a car and drive that's not a mistake its a choice, you can't blame it on the alcohol you blame it on the one consuming it.

its easily a mistake to think you are fine.......look at some other definitions
and lets add in who knows if the drinking even caused the accident.......sure we can all assume but that doesn't mean its true

I dunno, its the only statement I have on Drunk Driving. My drill sarg use to say it to us all the time. Well he use to scream it at us. Would always be added in the "Careless Speech." It is true thou.. They always seem to live, and kill everyone else.

Forgotten? No.

This should have nothing to do with his mma career being he wasn't on his way to a fight, nor was he under company time. I know he represents a great sport, and has an image with fans. But that should only be held up to him when he is under company time.
he should be punished the same way everyone else is.

What make anyone think that a professional athlete or musician or actor is anything but an entertainer. Mel Gibson, a drunken anti-semite, I still like his movies. It doesn't matter. Michael Jackson, Child Mollester, I hate his music. It doesn't matter. What these people do on their own time doesn't affect me. I watch them for a few moments, laugh or smile, then I GET ON WITH MY LIFE. As long as he doesn't hurt me or mine, then I have no problem with it, if it is bad enough, let the law deal with it. Who gives a s---, he could be a drunk, stoned, anti-semitic, armless midget and all that would matter to me is that he would make a lousy fighter and therefore a lousy entertainer, because that is what he is...an entertainer whose sole purpose in the framework of my world is to ENTERTAIN ME.
The real question is will this DUI thing distract him from training or make him even more serious and become an even greater entertainer...er, fighter.

That's fine if you want to think that, but I hope that you also look at people who run red lights or who roll through stop signs or who go 7-8 miles over the speed limit and get into accidents in the same light. Ditto with people who follow other drivers at distances they feel are safe, but which actually are unsafe because there is a chance they might not be able to brake in time if the other driver has to come to an abrupt stop.
By your logic, anyone who rear ends another driver through any circumstance outside of faulty brakes made the choice not to apply pressure to the brakes and stop the car.
I personally disagree with you (I think Jones made an error in judgement as he probably felt he was fine to drive when he actually wasn't), but if you want to feel that way then more power to you.
As far as Jones? If he shows contricion through his future actions then he should be forgiven. It shouldn't be forgotten though.

Then obviously you and him don't pay attention to any media ever and just make up your own statistics. Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame got behind the wheel drunk and not only killed himself but his buddy that was in the car. So Drunk driver killed himself and passenger.

The guy that Charles MASK Lewis raced with I believe was drunk and his passenger died at the scene, I think he survived. Of course Mask died, but I think the passenger survived. I guess it's a 50-50 shot.
Either way, we'll see if this happens again with JBJ, he seems like a smart guy, and smart guys change their behavior when they screw up, get caught, and are given another chance.
On a side note: to me, nothing make beers go down easier knowing you have a designated driver, JBJ needs a designated driver as part of his entourage.

This will not hurt his image at all in the long term. The man does beer commercials for god's sake. Was it stupid for him? Oh yes. Was it worth it? Never is. Will it matter long term? Not in the least bit.
Yeah people will throw stones for a week or two. But those are the same people that b/tch and moan on message boards every time something happens. Jones will come out with his close family and big brother and say he is getting help from his family, professionals, and God and making steps to correct his mistake. He will apologize to his fans and say he hopes that everyone will look to the bible and remember true Christians stress forgiveness.
Then the next media news story will pop up, people will demonize the next guy, Jones wins his next fight and nobody will remember this in a meaningful manner in 6 months.
If Chris Leben can keep his middle of the pack career going through all of his DUI's and other crap, this is not going to be a speed bump for Jones at all.
