Gil vs Melvin?? the only fight worth making is Gil vs the winner of Gray/Frankie
Gil has nothing to prove by fighting Melvin, after the Frankie/Gray fight Gil will be the undisputed top 2....so there is no reason to fight a lower contender guy, since Pettis lost his shot Gil gets next shot and that should be that

I think Jim Miller is getting the first crack at the winner of Frankie/Gray. If Melendez wants to come over to the UFC now, I think a fight with Guillard would be off the hook.

I'd rather see Gil just move over to the UFC and take on one of the top 4 there, but if he must stay in Strikeforce, it would be stupid not to have him face Masvidal.

The guy's been way to inconsistent for since he was in Bellator.
He does good, gets a bigger opportunity, loses(doesn't tell the whole story of those losses).
Plus he doesn't have much of a name value. Melendez should take it if it's just to keep active, but i'm sure he's not stoked on having to fighter only forum posters would have known the last little while.

Well he isn't gonna get any other bigger names than Masvidal as long as he is under the Strikeforce banner. I think anyone who looks as good as he did against Daley at 170 should get some big and quick opportunities in the Lightweight Division if that is where they normally fight. I mean, he made Daley shoot for a takedown in that fight. How many other people have done that?
Due to the lack of other top notch competition, I'd say he is worthy of a shot at the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship
