Nine-year veteran Keith Jardine's first fight since his release from the UFC will come against Shark Fights light-heavyweight champion Trevor Prangley in a non-title bout at Shark Fights 13 on September 11 in Lubbock, Texas.
Prangley confirmed the news with Sherdog.com earlier today.
"I'm looking forward to getting back in the cage after my last feeble performance," said Prangley. "Keith is a super tough opponent and a real nice guy. It's good to see Shark Fights getting the higher caliber fighters and putting on consistently better shows."
Jardine (15-8-1) was cut from the UFC following his most recent loss against Matt Hamill at TUF 11 Finale in June. The loss was Jardine's fourth straight defeat inside the Octagon, with previous losses coming against Quinton Jackson, Thiago Silva and Ryan Bader.
Jardine, who was a cast member on the second season of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series, departed the UFC with a 6-7 record during his five-year tenure with the promotion, scoring notable Octagon wins over Mike Whitehead, Wilson Gouveia, Forrest Griffin, Chuck Liddell and Brandon Vera. His other UFC losses came against Wanderlei Silva, Houston Alexander and Stephan Bonnar.
Prangley (22-6-1) is winless in his last two bouts, most recently suffering a first round submission loss against Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" on June 16. He previously won six straight fights, which included a win over Marcus Sursa at Shark Fights 7 this past November to capture the promotion's light-heavyweight title.
Prangley has fought for other notable organizations throughout his nine-year career such as Bodog Fight, Maximum Fighting Championship, Arena Rumble and the UFC. The South African holds other notable career wins over the likes of Matt Horwich, Yuki Kondo, Falaniko Vitale, Chael Sonnen, Jeremy Horn and Travis Lutter

I don't care much for Jardine, so I hope he catches a beatdown.

It's funny that he's got a win over Vera, and Vera is still in the UFC seeing as neither have done anything since that fight.
Good match up. Both guys are in need of some success.

Jardine VS Prangley set for Sept
In his first fight since being released by the UFC in June, veteran Keith Jardine is set to face Shark Fights light heavyweight champ Trevor Prangley in a 205-pound non-title bout at Shark Fights’ September 11 event in Lubbock, Texas.
Semi tough first fight since being released but i think the "Dean of Mean" should take this one. If he were to lose maybe seriously contemplate retirement

i hope jardine gets the win, Trevor prangley is not an easy fight but he has the advantage since Trevor is mostly a MW and for a LHW he is small so Keith can wrok with that in his favor to get that win.
he needs that win and i hope with that win he can get back with the big promotions and SF give him a call since it would be a nice pick for the LHW division

Do you not care for Rampage, Rashad, Shogun or Franklin for the same reason?
Just curious.

There are a lot of guys who if they fought Hamill, Rampage, Silva, Bader in there last 4 fights would be 0-4 and are still in the UFC.
Does Jardine still train with Greg Jackson's camp?

Yeah he does,I haven't read anything saying he's left there or anything.

It's good Jardine is taking some more fights. He needs to stay active if he wants to go back to the UFC.
However, he still needs to radically change up his style.

That would be correct. Had a tough time deciding who to pull for at 114. Don't care much for Randy either, despite him getting what he deserved twice. But I will be pulling for him come 118. :|

Jardine probably could have gone with Strikeforce, but it looks like he's choosing to try and win at a few smaller shows and then get back to the UFC. Hopefully Greg Jackson sticks with him and tries to improve his style a little.

I wish the best for Jardine, I really like him, I hope he gets back to one of the bigger promotions soon and he puts a little winning streak going

If he beats Prangley and picks up another win Dana will call him back. I would think he was one of the hardest guys Dana has ever had to cut.
I bet Jardine didn't go to Strikeforce cause he knows if he stays away from the enemy and stays off Showtime, another enemy of Dana White, he will most likely get called back pretty quickly.

He should honestly have no problem with Prangley. Prangley from a few years ago might be a different story though.
