Cheick Kongo (15-6-2) is healing up and getting ready to return to the UFC. It looks like that return will take place at UFC on Versus 4 on June 26 against a yet to be named opponent.
MMAWeekly.com sources confirmed that the fighter is to appear on the main card of the event. At this time, the card is still without a venue, but reports have suggested that Milwaukee, WI is the location of choice.
Kongo was last seen taking on Travis Browne on October, 16 at UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama. The fight went to a draw and Kongo was deducted a point in the third round for repeatedly grabbing onto Browne’s shorts.
In December, Kongo underwent back surgery and has been sidelined ever since.
MMAWeekly.com will continue to follow up on an opponent for Kongo as more information becomes available.

I do think he will fight a StrikeForce HW, Dana said UFC fighters could possibly fight on SF cards but we won't be seeing SF fighters on UFC cards yet.
I remember Bigfoot saying the delay in the GP was too much and he would want a fight before then, but I think he would need a much lesser opponent. Imagine Bigfoot losing to Carwin, then having Bigfoot go on to win the HW GP? That would be awful.
Maybe Brock gets kicked off TUF, just a thought

Only if they're signed to Strikeforce after they're cut or their UFC deal expires...
He said it pretty clearly. Nobody is switching while under contract. UFC guys on UFC contract. Strikeforce guys on Strikeforce contract.
Also, Kongo will fight Mitrione. Matt broke his hand against Hague and this is a good time frame for his return.

Not sure if I've missed something, but have we got any reason to think it's not Kongo? Seems to make perfect sense to me. I like it stylistically too, even though I think Carwin is a heavy favorite. Kongo's speed and technique may just be good enough to out strike Shane and push him into deep water.

According to MMA Weekly: Two of the two strikers in the UFC are set to do battle as Pat Barry returns to action at UFC on Versus 4 to face Cheick Kongo in a heavyweight match-up on the June 26 card.

Honestly, if Barry shows up for a war, we could have a very entertaining scrap on our hands. Kongo however having the bigger reach, more experience & I think the better Kickboxing, Kongo can pick this one up.
Result: Cheick Kongo wins via 2nd round TKO after connecting with a High Kick followed by punches.

Ouch, bad comparison. And I say that because Barry has thunder thighs, he won't be tapping to elbows to the thigh.
Barry is still a work in progress and he has great stature for anti-wrestling, this should be a good one.
