Let me first start off by saying I don't normally pay attention to p4p rankings but I thought this was a total disrespect to MM. Not saying Jones doesn't deserve the #1 ranking, I actually do think he is the best p4p fighter but he was quickly taken off the rankings after that car incident, and hasn't fought since, while MM has been steadfastly defending his title. So if anyone should replace Aldo as p4p king it, i think it should be MM. But it's like the UFC brass got together and said, nah we're not gonna have a boring midget fighter be our p4p king, let's just put jones back on the p4p list despite not fighting in a year. I guess my only gripe is the timing of it all, putting Jones back in to deny MM the p4p throne?

A group of journalists and media members (About 30 people) each submit their rankings for each division and for P4P. They are tallied up and the combination of all of their rankings is what the official rankings become.

what about the decision to take Jones off the rankings and reinstate him? I guess I wouldn't have a real problem if he was reinstated back into the ranking after he fought at least once. The timing seems shady to me.

Media members. If you go to the rankings page, you can see all the media who do them. You win a prize for every name you actually recognise!
He was reinstated to the rankings a while ago, he didn't go right to #1, perhaps because some rankers never realised he was eligible again. I think it was shortly after his suspension was lifted by the UFC he was added back to the rankings.

He was around #5 when he was first put back in. He's gradually gone up since.

i agree that and GOAT discussions are useless. I'm glad Aldo is out of the GOAT discussion now though. always felt jon jones was a better GOAT candidate
It's just part of the paradox in combat sports.
The lighter weights consistantly have the better, more exciting fighters & fights.
Peoples imaginations are always captured by the bigger men though.
The KO is always one swing away.
Couple that with MM not being particularly interested in promoting.
That's the kind of ranking he gets.
I don't go in for the p4p stuff in general though.
It's only fun over beers in a BS session at your local.

I must not be a hard core...cause I love me some Mighty Mouse. Always did. The cartoon was rather awesome too. I'm now going to sing "Here I come to save the Day!" as loud as I can.
