Dana White was interviewed by brazillian mma channel Combate and when asked who was Aldo's next opponent he said:
- Vai ser o Lamas ou vamos acabar fazendo a luta contra o Pettis. Vamos ver o que acontece - disse Dana White ao
Combate.com
, confirmando que Pettis será descartado se perder para Josh Thomson no evento em Sacramento, dia 14 de dezembro.
- It will be Lamas or we will end up doing the fight against Pettis. We'll see what happens.- Said Dana White to Combate.com, confirming that Pettis will not be an option if he loses to Josh Thompson.
Give TJ grant his shot against Pettis, give Lamas the shot against Aldo. Do what's right. Only after the dust settles after those fights should super fights even be discussed.
Pettis hasn't yet earned a super fight with another champion when he has yet to defend his belt, even with one defense against a questionable challenger I don't see him as having earned that fight. Funny how there was no talk of Benson fighting Aldo after 3 defenses of his title.

Haha, Bendo isn't getting down to 145... Guy is basically a WW fighting at LW, he is a really big guy. Pettis can actually make the cut that is why it's being discussed and the fact that the fight was thrown together once and they have said a lot of things about each other in the media... Very very sellable fight. Problem is they both have business to handle in their division right now, if Aldo fights Lamas that is a tough fight for him as is Thompson and Grant for Pettis, Thompson more so IMO.

I was concerned it may not come through with just text. Glad it came through well though!
Aldo last fought two months ago, and Pettis isn't fighting for another two months.... I don't think Aldo should be able to voluntarily sit out for four months to get a matchup with Pettis. He should fight in January/February. Depending on what event he could get on, if Pettis or Aldo walk away with or without injuries, ect, then maybe they could fight in the spring. Too many variables to really plan it all out like that, though. But ya, Aldo should defend in January/February, otherwise he's sitting out for too long for no reason....

I think a Bendo-Aldo fight would have seen Aldo come up to 155, not Bendo go down
It kinda bothers me a bit how people still say thompson its Thomson* lol well Pettis needs to beat Thomson and Grant while Aldo needs to beat Lamas before any "superfight" is even in the discusssion but I'll still love to see Aldo vs Pettis

Pettis will never 'be' Thomson or Grant....
the right matchups would be aldo vs. pettis and chad mendes vs. ricardo lamas or ricardo vs. swanson in a title eliminator. I have totally no idea why the ufc matched mendes vs. lentz this december, doesnt make sense, hopefully they pull lentz off and put lamas in. if not i think they are doing a swanson vs lamas rematch then
So sick of this argument. If Pettis defends his title he should be fighting Aldo at whatever weight those guys decide. Waiting on these amazing fights makes no sense because guys either lose or get injured. I don't care about Lorenzo Lamas, he still needs to fight a #1 contender to actually become the #1 contender. The win over Swanson has been negated by the 5 fight win streak Cub has gone on since (Lamas is on a 2 fight win streak since). No different than Gustafsson/Davis situation. Plus Lamas has fought once a year the past 3 years. Whoopdedoo. How do you become a #1 contender when you're not fighting all the time? Are we really going to pretend that Hioki/Koch are real contenders in that division right now and those wins warrant a shot?
Pettis just won the title. Hes got the punk, then hes got guys like Dos Anjos and Nurmagomedov to worry about. Aldo has a bunch of dudes knocking at his door. This pettis/aldo bulls--- is retarded. Let the champs defend their titles and stop with the f---ing superfight crap. And that goes for all divisions.
As a fight fan I would love to see Aldo v Pettis, but in fairness it should be Lamas that gets to fight Aldo next. Pettis hasn't dominated his division yet, he has The Punk, Khabib, RDA and Grant to concentrate on.
