OK There have been some small debates as to the somewhat cult popularity of Lee Murray. What are your thoughts? I am initially surprised that a convicted felon and bank robber would become so popular. I was becoming appalled with my MMA brethren when I realized that the NFL fans are far worse. Ray Lewis killed a man but he is on Old Spice commercials! Ironically, Micheal Vick takes more heat for torturing and killing dogs.
Still, why is it that NFL guys can commit crimes and the population forgives and forgets while Lee Murray is damned by many as a sordid, despicable inhuman monster? Is he?
What do you guys think about Lee Murray?
A WORD ON THE POLL CHOICES: They are somewhat tongue in cheek and are not meant to be taken literally. Basically, they can be replaced with "like" and "dislike" respectively. I just wanted to make the poll a bit more lighthearted to offset the somewhat grim subject matter of crime and such.

IMO your opinion of him all depends on what you believe. The British media are notorious for making up a lot of s---, I know. 2 of my friends were thrown out of their flat for having to many parties, but about 75% of the things that the media claimed they were doing, they had never done.
I like Murray, he KO'd Tito, what's not to like.

The single salient characteristic which makes a character a folk hero is the imprinting of the name, personality and deeds of the character in the popular consciousness. Lee Murray has these things.

During the trial, not a single bit of evidence was shown linking Lewis to the crime. Granted, I think Lewis is a bit of an idiot, too.

the actions that Lee Murray did cant hardly be someone a hero.
i like it the comparation of michael vick and also we can put the talks on the steroids users in MLB earning millions and be looking as a heros and a examples for the kids.
i think this talks might be better in another section of this forum but in this talk definity murray deserve the jail and no way he deserve to be call a hero
as a figther he was entreteing and someone with alot of history but those days for now are over and he needs to pay for his sins but is kind of hard to see some fans calling him an hero even tough they know about his actions alredy

I don't really know what part he took in planning it but if he was one of the main ring leaders then I'm not sure how you can say Murray is an idiot for the heist he pulled off.
