I'm going to change the text on our 'Free Lee Murray' shirts to 'Freed Lee Murray' in the immediate future. This morning I received a phone call and an email from the same source who enabled MiddleEasy to obtain an unprecedented interview with Lee Murray earlier this year.
According to my source, Lee Murray will be released from his Moroccan jail due to the actions of a forensics officer that worked on his case. Recently, this unnamed Kent officer was disciplined for disposing evidence in another case which forced police to inform Lee Murray's lawyers of the mishap. This will lead to a retrial which, what I'm told, will result in a 'very definite' chance that Lee Murray will be released from his prison in Morocco. It's also important to note that if a retrial is granted to any of the five men that were jailed in 2007, Lee Murray will be released.
I've also been told that the primary thing Lee Murray wants to do after being released is to return to his MMA career. Apparently Murray is in the same shape that he was in when he submitted Jorge Rivera with a triangle a few years ago. From what I've heard, competing in MMA is the only thing on Lee Murray's mind and he's even been offered to be featured on a main event in two separate MMA organizations pending his release. Lee Murray's anticipated release date is sometime at the end of 2011.

Yeah, I didn't think Murray was going ANYWHERE, considering in November that his sentence was increased to 25 years. Be interesting to see what he does if he gets out and returns, dude is only 33 so he's got time for a comeback.
I was reading it as he will be released but there will be a retrial. Which means eventually he'll be right back in jail, because I think it's a pretty open and shut case.

If a forensics officer messed up it's not hard to think he could get all the forensics thrown out of court (assuming Moroccan courts are like US courts). That could quite possibly make him a free man.

^^ It's difficult also because the court case is split between laws in the UK and laws in Morocco. The trial is based around the UK laws but he is imprisoned in Morocco

Only because he has a dual British/Moroccan citizenship, he was living in Morocco at the time of the conviction and at the time he was wanted in Morocco for a different but small crime.

still anderson lol. although i do feel like lee murray had a lot to accomplish in mma and was never able to reach his potential. that guy hit freaking hard.

I'm not sure he will be able to make too much noise in the MMA scene in terms of winning a bunch of fights, but I will certainly be following his story if hes released from prison and is going to fight someone. I'd wanna see him fight a not-so-great fighter first to tune him up a bit though.

I think he needs more than a few fights, but right now the UFC has a couple of BUMBs in every division. Dont know why with all the talent surrounding them in other orgs.

even anderson knew that. i havent seen murray vs silva, but lee murray sais anderson was actually afraid of his standup and was only looking to grapple.
