What uproar? I'm fine with Edgar getting a pity round on the score cards, other than that Henderson won everything about that fight.
Edgar could not take him down when he caught his kicks, Henderson had the only sub attempts, did all the damage, had Edgar's eye swollen after round 1 nose busted after round 2, left side of face smashed by round 4, had him wobble legged in round 5. Henderson ended most rounds with momentum, landed all the significant knees and kicks...
are we really giving Edgar rounds because he would get a takedown he couldn't keep and not giving Henderson credit for the 5-6 he was stuffing one legged each round? giving him rounds for possibly eeking out statistically in terms of punch #'s, but not even coming relatively close in damage.
the way i saw it, it was all Henderson

That said, the current scoring system is garbage imo...
Effective strikes (more damaging) > volume strikes

I gave Frankie rounds 1, 2, and 5, but BARELY. Not a controversial decision at all.

i call BS
if a fighter throws and lands more strikes he should win just because a guy lands harder punches it does'nt make a difference
if your way was the case
then faber would be the current BW Champ

Frankie won rds 1-3-5 in my books. Benson was losing rd 2 until the upkick. If I score the fight as a whole it goes to Benson. Most of that damage was from repeated jabs and one up kick. Otherwise I didn't feel like he landed enough to out score the volume of shot Edgar landed. Edgar landed several hard shots as well. Close fight and not really bothered by it.
Benson is a machine but yet I am indifferent to him. Will be cheering on who ever challenges him first.
In other news: f--- ya Mark Hunt!

Every single takedown Edgar went for that he didn't get he landed a nice strike on Bendo, they were real quick so maybe you missed em. But dude, this fight was much closer then your letting on here. Check the poll were dead even atm

I had it 3-2 Bendo. 1 and 5 Frankie- 2,3, and 4 Henderson. Could have gone either way, it was a close fight but I think the right person won.

Bendo outstruck Frankie every round. I think a lot of people's viewpoints are skewed a bit because of the announcers getting so awe-struck over Frankie catching kicks. What good is catching kicks after they land full force? I don't get it? And he wasn't even capitalizing on catching them.

You also have to factor in if one of the fighters was close to finishing the fight (be it by submission or strikes).
How would faber be the champ by my standards?
He didn't land more damaging strikes to Aldo whatsoever

Bendo punished Frankie on everything. he was blocking the kicks Frankie was trying to throw when he caught bends kicks.

Ok just checked out compustrike and fightmetrics for the fight. Both of them have it differently
Fight metrics: Strikes for edgar are 81 compared to 100 for bendo
Significant strikes for edgar are 68 compared to 87 for bendo
Edgar went 5 for 12 in takedowns, beno went 1 for 1
Bendo had the only submission attempt
Compustrike: Edgar outlanded bendo 124 to 114, more significat strikes for bendo
Edgar had 7 takedowns compared to 2 for bendo
How the f do they have such different stats.... especially for takedowns? Out of curiosity which one is generally more reliable?

I thought Henderson won decisively....
-Henderson controlled most of the fight, and put Frankie on his heels
-Henderson did more significant damage to Frankie while He didn't have a scratch.
-Henderson was hardly in danger in the fight, while Edgar was in some points
-Henderson had 2 of the important key moments in the fight with the heel kick and gullotine attempt
-Henderson landed more strikes
I just thought Henderson did more than Frankie in this fight....yeah you can say Frankie had more takedowns or landed more strikes (I went by fight metrics), but he didn't do in any damage on the ground or any damage in the standup. He was landing pitty pat punches like he always does and it just wasn't enough.
thats why Henderson is the champ

I only gave Frankie the 1st round.
I don't think it was a toss-up, but giving the fight to Frankie isn't the most ridiculous thing ever.

I had Bendo winning the fight, but it was a really close and really amazing fight.
Both guys deserve HUGE props for putting on a show!
