LOL! Wow...just wow. I didn't know fighters needed to resort to such drastic measures to cut just 8 lbs. in 2 weeks. I thought wrestlers could cut 10 lbs in two days just by jogging in a sauna. This is pretty ridiculous. Hey at least they mentioned "MMA guys" on a boxing show.

As a former high school wrestler, You don't need meth to cut 8 pounds in two weeks. I like 'Lights Out' so far but that was just ridiculous. Wrestlers can cut 10 pounds in one day. It sucks big time but you can get it done. Next week should be interesting when the main character fights in an underground MMA fight.

Yeah, that is pretty hilarious. I thought the show was supposed to be at least somewhat close to real life. Going into a fight having been up all day and night for a couple days strung out on drugs is probably not a good idea. You can lose 8 pounds in a day by working out, sauna, no food/water, sweatsuit.

I race dirt bikes and have lost over ten pounds in a 6 hour ride just from sweating in hot weather. They are cutting water weight not mussel or fat before a fight.

Just a TV show.
Every other sport has had horrible stuff said about them in movies/TV.
Didn't effect them any and won't effect MMA any.

I saw that and did the :shock: and then the :? . Not that I've done meth or anything like that before competition, but from what I know, it puts enough stress on the heart that you'd end up entering a competition "overtrained" and just not as sharp because you've been revving your engine too high for too long. writers are clever, they'll link the meth effects to Omar losing his concentration in the 10th and getting ktfo'd. Otherwise it just turns into a South Park Mr. Mackey "Drugs are bad..?" moment.
But it made me recall something: Randall "Tex" Cobb is now an actor, probably most famous for being the nightmare Road Warrior badass from Raising Arizona.
But for about 15 years he was a pro boxer (he fought Holmes, Dokes, Shavers...). In 1992 he TKO'd Sonny Barch, but the fight was called a No Contest because both fighters tested positive for cocaine -- which made me go :shock: and then :? and then :lol:

By the way, whaddayall make of Lights Out so far? I've liked the storyline for the most part, love Stacey Keach as the old man, and appreciate the way they've intercut missing scenes later in each episode's narrative in a way that mirrors Patrick's own strobing, on-and-off memory and neurological function.
But I'm a sucker for form matching content.
