Apparently there was some trash talking at UFC 95 last weekend ....

All I will say is I told Joe Silva to make this happen for June 13th in Germany — neutral ground for both of us. So it is in Joe Silva’s control. This whole ‘calling me out’ thing started at the Q&A in London when his manager sent up a guy to ask me if I would fight Dan and I said lets do it. I think he is a talented fighter but I also think I will pound his face into dust. Anyone who thinks he’s more technical then me — you are allowed to your opinion even though it is wrong. I fight each fight differently because YOU HAVE TO. This fight wont look like the others just as the others don’t look like the ones before them.

This was on the Underground Forum (then put up on MMAMania). I think this would be a fantastic fight. Davis has the great stand-up and it will give Hardy his first test in the UFC. This has Fight of the Night written all over it

I agree, Davis will win this one. These guys are pretty similar fighters, but Davis has more experience and I think his skill set is better then Hardy's.

Funny post.
Yeah he will sure do it easy if it does get done. You are probably the type of buffoon that was saying Markham would win by highlight reel KO.
Hardy is a gamer and I'm a fan of both, from an expert point of view I would pick Davis by close decision. It's tough to call this one. You guys have never even seen Hardy fight outside of the UFC I bet. Extremely well rounded.

No offense...This fight makes no sense to Davis other than making a point. This fight doesnt propell him at all.
That said....Fun fight to watch I am sure!

Expect Hardy to be using the whole "Losing my last fight to Marcus Davis was the best thing that ever happened to me" speel for his fight in the UK at the end of summer/early fall.

This won't be a bad matchup, I think Davis is going to do what he says and turn Hardy into dust but it should be entertaining. That and as we saw with the Chris Lytle fight, giving Marcus Davis the matchups he wants is a recipe for a solid fight.

Wrong, I'm a completely different type of buffoon! Nice attempt to "own" me though, keep working on that internet cred, you'll get there..

Do you really think this fight would be boring?
Not that boring, but not that exciting. I think Davis is his own biggest fan.
Forrest Petz, Shonie Carter, Pete Spratt, Jason Tan, Jess Laudin, Paul Taylor, Paul Kelly, Chris Lytle are his wins, then they give him Swick and he lost. I just think for whatever reason the UFC has purposely kept him sheltered and marketed in Europe, but at the end of the day, he isnt challanging for the title, he would need to beat a minimum of 2 contenders, and Hardy isnt one of them.

This is why I dont think this fight makes sense. He needs to start beating top 10 guys!

I agree that he has not worked his way up to the top of the contenders list but he is generally a croud pleaser when it comes to exciting fights. Joe does need to set him up some higher level fights but I'm guessing that since he is a crowd pleaser they want him on the European cards to help the cause over there.
Exactly, and that is fine. For the UFC its smart. For Davis though, I think he should run his gums less until he beats a contender or someone in the UFC top 10 WW's at least. This pound his face into dust, cmon. This dude isnt laying people out like Spider or anything. He has some good hands & good ground game, but he looked horrible against Swick, and probably would fare the same against the top 10 at WW.
I think this Hardy kid will give him problems.

Most guys will never sniff the title. I don't think the UFC cares about propelling Davis anywhere. His role is to put on entertaining fights that will juice up undercards.
We've heard similar things about Rich Franklin recently. People thought he should leave 185 since he could never beat Silva, but also questioned if he could ever get the title at 205 either. So what? You're just supposed to work your way up the ladder and if you hit your head on the ceiling before you get the belt you should just retire?
The majority of fighters will never be champion. There will always be champions and up-and-comers, but there's also plenty of room for solid veterans like Franklin and Davis. And when it comes to those guys fights aren't about propelling them to a title shot, they're about entertainment.

This has potential to be a great stand up war. Davis did well against Lytle but he is going to be dealing with a much more seasoned striker in Dan Hardy. It's hard to tell how this one is going to pan out, could be a good day for Hardy.
