I think when Mark Hunt returns from injury he should face 1 of the top 5,If he beats them emphatically..That'll be four wins in a row,Cains getting the shot after 1 win.Mir got the shot after 3 wins..
Mark Hunt would give Junior something different to think about in the standup,and no disrespect to Mir as he showed a lot of heart, but Hunt could give Junior way more problems than Mir at is own game..
A win over Werdum..Carwin..even Mir should give him the shot..
Anyone agree?..

Mir's chin is done. One touch from Mark and he is going out. I'd still have Mir has the clear favorite for his all around ability and vastly superior ground game but Hunt can put anyone out and Mir clearly can't take shots anymore.

I think you forget and/or under estimate how hard JDS hits and how many shots Mir took.
Mir has one hell of a chin if not just to survive the end of that first round. To say his chin is done is just about disrespectful to the current champion.

He got knocked out. He has had his brain scrambled a few times and has been rocked more times....I wouldnt say he has one hell of a chin. His chin is not chuck liddell yet but it isnt one hell of a chin....is def questionable

I think the more accurate question is
Is mark hunt even top 10? lets start with that before we start throwing title shot. I was rooting for him to get it instead of Mir because it was gimmick fight, it was more so JDS could stay active fight so we all knew Mir didnt stand a chance. I would rather seen Hunt.....but lets be honest he doesnt deserve a title shot anytime soon

Ya and Mark Hunt throws pillow punches. Mir gets wobbled every time he is hit solid his last few fights. How many HUGE shots did Carwin take?
Mir has taken some serious beatings these last 3 years. That adds up.

I think Mir took more hard punches than a lot of people thought off Junior, but any sort of decent punch off Hunt could have him out.Nog who is not a noted power puncher had Frank doing the chicken dance and although Nog messed it up going for the sub,respect still has to go to Mir for breaking the arm..
The question is.Can Hunt keep the fight standing to get the ko?.Marks has certainly improved the rest of his game..

Since when has Mir been this world class takedown expert..Hunt has become a decent all round fighter since then.Two and a half years of solid training(with zero injuries apart from now) at the best grappling based camp in all of mma,since his last submission loss..At American Top Team.
Mir can kimura ANYBODY, not just Hunt but he has to get him there and the fight starts on the feet, trading with one of the hardest punching heavyweights in the world..Hunts tdd is the question?.

I understand, but I'm only basing this idea if he beats someone like Werdum or Mir in his next fight but I'm up for that idea of Hunt v Nelson as well..

Here is the answer to your question. Hunt has been taken down and submitted several times.

Look..I promise ya I'm not turning into Corn smoker with some beyond crazy theories lol...
Mir has been tko'd several times by some lesser punching men..
I'm not saying Mir can't or won't get Hunt down..I'm saying he might not, and Hunt has improved in his all round game for him to have a SLIGHT chance of avoiding it..I would give Hunt a massive chance of tkoing Big Nog though, cos he ain't as physically strong as Mir..
When Struve v Hunt fight was made I predicted that hunt would win by ko,as I thought that Struve wouldn't ge able to get him to the mat where he would've had a better chance to defeat, a high level, heavy handed kickboxer,(even Struve admitted he would struggle to get Hunt down over
Lavar)..When Lavar stepped up to fight I instantly predicted a sub win for Stefan, cos it was going
to the floor..
Hunts all round game has improved(it's so obvious).I'm not saying Ben Rothwell is a world class fighter but a couple of years ago,even Hunt wouldn't of been able to compete with Rothwell on the ground..But he dominated him and more than held his own..
