http://mmajunkie.com/2015/09/matt-mitrione-calls-out-ufc-vp-matt-hughes-following-nick-diaz-tweet
All of the tweets are in the article above. The quick rundown is that Hughes took to twitter to comment on the Nick Diaz suspension. His exact quote was "I think the suspension was excessive, but you can't walk in there like a punk and expect leniency."
Mitrione fired back at Hughes essentially stating Hughes is against fighters best interests, even though he is employed as UFC's Vice President of Athlete Development and Government Relations.

I think Matt is just stating that the way Diaz carried himself in trial wasn't going to do him any favors. And IMO he is kinda right in that sense. Mitrione's argument just seems to come from his dislike of Matt.

I agree with Mitrone. Obviously a UFC fighter liaison shouldn't be stating personal opinions about current active fighters. That's just 1st grade common sense.
However, this is Matt Hughes we're talking about.

I dunno if I'd call it a trial, that suggests the NSAC would actually take into account the arguments given.
And I don't see what Diaz done wrong. How exactly did he carry himself? He done nothing except use his right to the 5th amendment. That shouldn't be used against him in any way, it's his legal right.

Well getting the point across that not acting like a thug is a major part of fighter development.
Say what you want about Hughes but the guy knew how to play the political game. Which along with his talent allowed for a successful career. Unlike Nick who has a tremendous amount of talent who with this washout is a failure of a career outside of putting on a few really exciting fight.
No sponsor wants to deal with a lose cannon that can barely fight due to self destructive behavior. Jon Jones is finding this out right now. Except he has a few chances left to use up, Nick has burned every bridge and used up every second chance he had. Diaz rants and raves about he is wrong but he and his fanboys ignore he is the reason and source of the problem.
I do not think the suspension will hold up, but see it as a move by the NSAC of punshing Nick, making a statement to other wannabe thug fighters and after appeal probably the legal maximum in this case.
And in all reality I wish Mitrone would stfu. The he guy has done nothing over his career and was the idiot who talked to himself on tuf. Who gives a sh/t what a mid level athlete in a sh/tty division thinks?

Hughes could have and should have worded his opinion much better, even if it is right to an extent, you walk into a proceeding such as this be it a work review, court proceeding or other official proceeding you best chill your attitude. The suspension was a Kangaroo court to be sure but Diaz attitude did not help his cause any.

Matt Hughes used to bang his brother Mark behind their barn.

Hughes actually retracted from calling Diaz a punk. It's why he kept telling Mitrione to read his other tweets. Mitrione speaks his mind, but at times it's done to create media beefs. Other times he sounds just like his nickname, a Meathead. Mitrione was acting like Hughes was on the commissions side and attacking fighters in general, no one is. Even if Hughes didn't retract from saying Diaz acted like a Punk, he is right in that no fighter can expect leniency from the commissions by fighting their suspension.
Hughes and any other retired fighter having a position in the UFC is another topic. Some of these jobs are just titles alone and not actual jobs.

Matt vs Matt and nothing else matters. As a matter of fact I think Matt needs to mature because Matt is a mat technician.

He sure knew how to manage his image...until his own autobiography. From that we learn the guy is a douche bag with a history of bullying and sexual assault.

All Diaz did was sit there and not speak. Then when he was being questioned pleaded the fifth. That's all that happened.

Hughes' duty is to the fighter community in general, which takes precedence over automatically backing every single fighter in every single situation. There is certainly a learning moment in the way Diaz conducts himself constantly, and this case in particular. Hughes was right to point that out to other fighters who may find themselves in similar situations -- act like a knucklehead, get treated like a knucklehead.
